“smokey room”
Despite requested a non-smoking room we got a room that clearly had been smoked in in the past. You dont see this in Tokyo anymore....felt like going back in time. Oh and dont loose a key: it will set you back 5250 JPY or at present JPY to USD $65....my fault..must have slipped out of my pocket in the taxi. But still: a physical key...that's so 1980's...please give me a keycard that I can put in my wallet. Overall the location of the hotel is unbeatable and so is the view of Osaka Castle.
“Great location”
We had an overnight stay before catching our flight back to the US. The hotel's location is right across the street from the main tourist attraction - the Osaka Castle. One can easily spend a half day there as the castle is a wonderful museum of Japan's history with many interactive displays. It is a nice family stop. Also, nearby are the National Museum of Art and the Museum of History . Osaka is a huge city and the airport is almost an hour away. We had several choices- a taxi from the hotelor an airporter bus offered by the hotel. The hotel is also close to the train and subway station. The only drawback was the expense of the hotel restaurants. We didn't have the time nor energy to research nearby more reasonably priced restaurants. It was our last night so we splurged.
“Hope to return some day”
The hotel was well very well staffed, and the people were some of the most polite, helpful, and professional people I have ever met. They seem genuinely happy to help, and they really made my stay a pleasure. I was only in the city for a day and didn't do much sight seeing, but the location seemed pretty convenient - it was just a few minutes' walk from nearby train and subway stations. I would gladly return again, as I'm sure the hotel and surrounding city have more to offer.
“Best stay in Osaka”
My stay at the New Otani Osaka was great the service was very very fast when I asked for things like an iron or umbrella. They were very helpfull with assisting me to get around even being my translator for taxi cab rides. I didn't eat in the hotel because there were plenty of places around to get a cheaper costing meal that was just as tasty. I will say the pictures on the site did not fully do the place justice but the pics of the rooms were acurate.
“WOW”
The "New Otani Hotel" in osaka was 5 star all the way. We got a free upgrade to a room with a view of Osaka Park and Osaka Castle on arrival and things only got better from there. Being a larger sized westerner i was a bit apprehensive of what size the room would be so imagine my delight when we walked in to find a King size bed and plenty of room. As in all 5 star hotels eating at the hotel itself was on the expensive, but high quality, side but plenty of cheaper cafes and public transport only minutes away.I have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel to anyone.
“Best hotel value”
Japan is not cheap. But this hotel is well worth it. Best location: the hotel faces the famous Osaka castle and park. Best concierge staff: giving you details on every request.
“Quite Nice”
The New Otani was a fine hotel. It was clean, the staff was efficient and very courteous, and the room was a standard western-style business hotel room. Perfectly spacious, with a nice view over Osaka Castle. It was very quiet. I cannot complain and would certainly recommend staying there. The only reason I cannot get super-enthusiastic about it is because it seemed a bit sterile. But frankly, that was just fine by me. It also seemed a bit isolated, but we took the subway (which stops a short block away) everywhere without problem. Bottome line: A very good choice to stay in Osaka.
“Great hotel!! The best”
The best hotel we stayed in Japan!!
“This hotel is excellent and not as expensive as you would imagine”
We were looking for a comfortable western style hotel and many of the reviews that we read on the "business hotels" worried us about room size, ability to have non-smoking rooms, traffic noise etc. We decided to pay a bit more and stay at a 1st class hotel. We were aware of the good reputation of the New Otani and were pleasantly surprised that it was not much more than most of the "business class: hotels we looked at. The Osaka castle view was excellent from our room and from the Sky Lounge. There were several restaurant options, we dined at one of the dearest and also at the cheapest - both were excellent. There were also many restaurant choices within a five minute walk, covering a range of budgets and every one we tried was very good. If you want to enjoy your stay in Osaka, we recommend the New Otani with confidence
“Worth every yen”
Beautiful hotel very near the train station. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. All spoke english. Pay the extra for a room with a view. 10 minute walk to places to eat local food or go to the castle. Would definately stay there again when in Osaka-Jo.
