we had a really nice apartment with a semi-outdoor kitchen area which was interesting but good. hotel staff were very disorganised though, when we first went into the hotel to ask where residence il borgo was, they just pointed us down the street. when we got to il borgo, there was a poster on the door saying check in is at the hotel, so we had to go back to the hotel. seemed a bit ridiculous that the hotel staff didn't say, are you here to check in, when we were looking for directions, as we hadn't realised that il borgo was a part of the hotel. staff were also disorganised after check in, when they had given us the key and we were just leaving the car park, when they came running after us looking for the expedia voucher, which i hadn't printed. despite this, the 2 members of staff looking after us were quite nice, and there were no issues with checkout.
Beautiful location, food varied and was always very good, drinks and general service slow but adequate.
Due to the location, you need wheels if you intend to vacate the resort for anything. Taxis are painfully expensive and limited, think 240Euros for a 100km round trip :( a necessity if you go to clubs etc which are miles away! Noted for my next visit ;)
Huge resort, very nice but more a 3 star in terms of facilities and service. Limited English, but French spoken widely by staff at the front desk.
Entertainment staff seemingly never sleep, pleasant enough but it gets irritating when you get disturbed to talk about nothing in particular - very weird but I guess friendly. The shows were amateur and harmless but we were clueless to the intent as all Italian - not a whine but it had zero flow!
Some staff go the extra mile and are fantastique! Some are useless and rude but very few.
Pool and beach fabulous - overall very nice place.

The complexs architecture, its gardens, its little squares, its amazing swimming pools and its closeness to the sea make it …More
The Sortale Hotel was a very good place to stay. It is in a great location as it is central but in a quiet area. The room was a good size, comfortable and bright. The family that runs the hotel are such nice people - they are helpful and know alot about the area and speak pretty good English. There was a good choice at breakfast and they make an excellent coffee.
"Roomy family apartment close to centre of Orosei"
We had booked a room for five, and were delighted to find that it was a two-room apartment with well-equipped bathroom, and kitchen and dining area at one end of the main room where the children slept.
Clean, pretty quiet, good air-conditioning, and a big carpark opposite plus a large supermarket which was useful for stocking up every day.
Had a lovely stay - saw lots of the area as we hired a car. Needed one as we were doing walks in quite remote areas.
Two local beaches - one had a charge of 5 euros, but was lovely - could park among trees to keep car and food cool, and have swims too. Other was good too - beach umbrellas recommended as was so hot during our stay.
Sardinia is a great holiday destination and this resort is popular with Italians, but not crowded even in mid August. This area is close to some great beaches and some spectacular scenery. You definitely need a car to get around not least to go the 2 min drive to the excellent swimming pool which is remote to the hotel. Eating was not a problem are there are a number of restaurants in walking distance and a local shop if want to knock up snacks in the perfectly functional kitchenette in the apartment.
We had a great 10 day break and our two boys had a fantastic time.
