“can't beat it for the price!”
Excellent location - within walking distance of universal (saved loads on parking charges) and I-Drive restaurants. The hotel lobby was clean however the rooms could do with a good clean, but for the amount of time spent in the room, you can't beat the price. There were two double beds in our room which were comfy. The bedding was changed when we put the easel on the bed and the towels changed daily. The bathroom has a powerful shower (great for getting shampoo out of thick hair!) and a tub. We bought a coffee maker and cups from walmart for $10. The air-con is a little noisy but it didn't stop me sleeping! The swimming pool is clean - alittle cool in March! Breakfast in the hotel is complementary but just toast or cereal and coffee. We went to ponderosa or similar for $3 or $4 on most days. Overall, if you are looking for budget accommodation in a good location and don't mind a drive to disney - this is the hotel for you. If you are not going to leave the hotel, or want a superior room with all the mod-cons don't go here!
“great budget hotel”
continental plaza was great. staff were really helpfull, rooms were clean, decor a bit 80s but for what we paid im not grumberling, its the best budget hotel on i drive and the cheapest. great hotel, dont belive the bad reviews. great pool bar. breakfast cereals and toast which was fine for us.
“HIGHLY SATISFIED”
AFTER READING SOME VERY WORRYING REVIEWS,WE WERE QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT THE OUTCOME.YES THE PROPERTY IS DATED,BUT THE AMENATIES WERE NOT MUCH DIFFERENT TO OTHER 2/3 STAR PROPERTIES.THE BREAKFAST AREA WAS SMALL BUT A TIME SPAN OF 6 TO 9.30 PLUS SHOULD BE ADAQUATE,AND THE CATERING LADY WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING.COOKED MEALS WERE AVAILABLE FOR A CHARGE.WHEN WE ARRIVED THE TV REMOTE WASNT WORKING,THIS WAS REPROGRAMMED IMMEDIATLY.THE SAFE WOULD NOT PROGRAMME,THIS WAS REPAIRE D WHILE WE WERE OUT DURING THE AFTERNOON. TOWELS CHANGED DAILY WHEN USED.BED LINEN CHANGED ON REQUEST.VERY PLEASENT STAFF.
“Great Budget Hotel.”
Me and my son stayed here for two weeks, and it was the best holiday we have had. The hotel was better than we expected for the price and it was in a perfect location. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was not amazing, but as described, and suited us if we were out early. The location of the hotel, at the top of International Drive, meant everything was nearby. There was a Walgreens supermarket and KFC on the corner. Wet and Wild was across the road, and there were plenty of restaurants and gift shops nearby. I will not hesitate to book into this budget convenient hotel again.
“Great holiday, good hotel”
I have just got back from a two week holiday to orlando and the orlando continental plaza hotel and I had a fantastic time. I was worried about the reviews before I went but I found the hotel to be ideal for a Orlando holiday. If you are expecting a 5 star luxury resort this isn't it but would do you expect for the price! The room was clean and had fridge/freezer which some hotels on I-drive do not have. I read in an earlier review that the carpets were dirty and for the first 3 days this was true but every rooms carpet got a steam clean to make them spotless. It is a basic hotel but when you go to Orlando and stay on I-Drive you shouldnt want to spend much time in the hotel. The location is great, wet n wild is across the road and Universal is 10-15 minutes walk away. Disney is two buses or a 30 dollar cab away. The free disney shuttles are adequate but we found them very packed and because they stopped of at a few other hotels they took a lot longer. My suggestion for getting to disney would be to get the i-ride to outside seaworld and either get a number 50 lynx bus or hope a taxi offers people at the bus stop a ride to disney for 2 dollars per person. Next to the hotel is a walgreens supermarket which sells everything you need and also any pharmacy stuff you may need. Overall I would give the hotel a 8/10 but the holiday overall 10/10 afterall it's not a hotel that makes a orlando holiday great!
“A dream holiday”
The Hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. The location is a massive bonus as the hotel is opposite wet and wild and about a 15 minute walk to Universal Studios. The hotel is just off International Drive approx a minute walk (just behind KFC when your looking for it as its hard to see when driving). There are a few bad comments and reviews that I had read before, but that shouldn't put you off as your not staying in the hotel all day like we wasn't but going to the wonderful Disney parks and Universal Studios. It was a wonderful and dream holiday for a family of 4 and the Hotel was part of that holiday. It was very cheap and very much worth a good commment. The breakfast was only cereal and toast which was just enough before you went to all the parks and visited all the other things on International Drive. I would recommend this hotel and we would definately go back to this hotel.
“Really Impressed! Low Price, Great Hotel!”
The hotel was fantastic for the price. The room was clean, we were given the option of two double beds or a king size, we took the king size. The room was big, the bed was huge and comfortable, and there was ample storage space for our clothes and a free safe for our valuables. The location is brilliant, very close to Universal, a free shuttle service to the parks is available. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The only downside was that the breakfast was a bit basic, but, to be honest, I didn't expect any more for the price we paid. The next time I visit Orlando, this is the hotel that I will be staying at!
“LOVELY HOTEL/BAR CANT BELIEVE ITS A BUDGET HOTEL VERY IMPRESSED”
This Hotel was within easy reach of Universal Studios/Island of Adventure (about 20mins walk or 15 mins by FREE bus, but did call at a few hotels before getting there) WET N WILD just across the road, I RIDE TROLLEY stop very close and very cheap was $1.25(kids 12 and under FREE) to anywhere on route. The breakfast was OK, but the breakfast room was small so i would advise going early open 630 till 930 but got very busy after 830. The bedroom was very well looked after and cleaned every day, but the safes were hit and miss as some rooms had safes but didnt work. The Pool/bar was brill paul and paula have a great deal of local knowledge and where very helpful for choices of were to eat, THANK YOU PAUL,
“Great place to use as a base, but not if you're expecting luxury, you get what you pay for!”
We stayed here for 6 nights with a group of friends. Hotel is generally a bit run down and in need of some TLC but we weren't there to hang out at the hotel so it was fine. Our room was a good size with 2 double beds which were comfy. Room was acceptable cleanliness wise, although carpet could do with being replaced/deep cleaned. Only downside was that the air con unit stank which aggravated my asthma a bit. We turned it off though and things were OK from then on in. Liked the pool area and hung out there a bit at night with a couple of cocktails from the bar. The staff are laid back, but in our experience helpful when you needed something. We got a super deal on expedia, so really can't complain too much for the price, if I'd paid more I probably would've let the down sides get on top of me more! If you're looking for somewhere to lay your head and aren't bothered about luxury then I'd recommend this hotel to you. If you want something a bit more up market this is not the place for you at all.
“The hotel was ok for a short break”
The Continental Plaza hotel was a nice and comfortable hotel, just as I expected from a 2 star hotel. It was very central on I-drive and it was ideal for a short break. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was ok, pretty basic but clean and functional. I also liked the fact that they had a room at reception where our luggage could be stored safely after checkout which was very practical. If you are expecting a free breakfast you might have to wait a long time because although you can make your own waffles every morning it does take a long time cause you have to queue for your turn. I didn't bother with that cause it was time consuming, but for only $3.20 you can get a nice breakfast made freshly in only 5-10min and I liked the fact that they had this service available. The only downside for me personally with the hotel was the noise from the main road, but I suppose this is the price you pay for being very central. There was a lot of traffic noise pretty much all night, luckly I had earplugs with me and they helped a lot. So a little tip...take earplugs with you unless you are a heavy sleeper. Overall a pretty standard and comfortable hotel for a short break.
