Resort Airline Check-In Service allows guests to check luggage and receive boarding passes at the hotel. This service accepts one bag per passenger on JetBlue. Guests wishing to check multiple bags on JetBlue or any bags on AirTran, Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, or US Airways must call 407-284-1231 (5 AM - 11 PM) to pay luggage fees prior to check-in, or guests can check bags at the airport. This Lake Buena Vista resort features 853 rooms in 11 colorful two- and three-story longhouses. Spread across the resort's landscaped grounds, the longhouses are each named for a Pacific island. Views vary from room to room, and include the hotel's gardens, pool, marina, parking area, and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Room furnishings are Polynesian in style and made of wicker and bamboo. All guestrooms were refurbished in 1998. Large marble bathrooms have spacious vanities. All rooms include Internet access and voice mail; Concierge rooms offer Continental breakfast, midday snacks, evening cordials, and additional services.

All guestrooms (including room patios and balconies) are nonsmoking.

'Ohana - Open for breakfast and dinner, Mickey and Friends host a daily breakfast here. At dinnertime, it's a family-style, all-you-can-eat Polynesian feast, with meats and seafood grilled over an open fire.

Kona Cafe - Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this casual restaurant starts with an American-style breakfast, but lunch and dinner have an Asian flair. Freshly roasted Kona coffee is prepared in a press pot.

Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show - This interactive dinner show is presented in the beachfront, back-yard cabana of a Hawaiian house and features authentic Polynesian music, hula, and other authentic Polynesian dancing. The tropical, three-course, family-style feast includes appetizers, lanai-roasted chicken, island pork ribs, South Seas fried rice, vegetable medley, beverages, and Polynesian dessert.

Captain Cook's Snack Company - Near the swimming pool and open 6 AM–1:30 AM daily, this quick-service restaurant has fast fare such as sandwiches to go, burgers and fries, and cold drinks.

“Nice however I would try something different next time. Once is enough for the $$.”

The over-sized sliding glass doors to the patio/deck was nice, however it did not have a screen door. We were on the 2nd floor, had the slider open because the weather was beautiful in the high-70's, and a lizard got in the room. It was harmless but freaked everyone out to think of it crawling around the beds at night. So we went after it, caught it and put it back outside. Screens would have prevented this unpleasant experience as well as the bugs that flew in. Did not get coffee replaced next day and waited over 30mins for someone to bring a replacement. Overall pleasant staff and beautiful grounds.

“Ideal location”

This was the perfect spot for our family's first Disney vacation and I would both recommend it to others and use it again on future Disney trips. Staff is great, plenty of amenities, and the location couldn't be better.

“An exciting and fun place to visit”

The hotel's location was ideal in terms of getting to all the theme parks. Also the monorail made travelling to places extremely easy. The hotel was nice with all kinds of shops inside it. The only thing that put me off a little was the oldness of the hotel. Other than that everything was perfect.

Area recommendations

The Disneyland area with its 4 theme parks is very fun to visit if you have young children.

When to go

Best time to go to Florida-Orlando is November time as the weather is not too hot and there is a nice breeze in the air.

“Great family Disney hotel”

Excellent service at the front desk and concierge. Good food at the quick service restaurant. Fabulous pool and slide for the kids. Nice sandy beach. Clean and relaxing. Need to book dinner at the nice restaurant, O'Hana, and show weeks in advance, which we didn't do. We missed out on both.

“Great location and worth every penny!”

We traveled to Disney World for 4 days and booked the Polynesian because we have 2 small children and wanted to be on the monorail line. Our room was ready when we arrived at 11am and was great - the bathroom looked to be newly renovated and the room was clean and spacious. Our children loved the fire torches and the beach / pool / volcano area. The best part though was the convenience factor. We stayed in building number 8 which was right next to the main lobby. This ended up being very convenient in terms of getting on the monorail, and we still had a view of the pool and could see the fireworks at night over the Magic Kingdom. The best part was how fast we could get to the Magic Kingdom using the monorail - easy to go to the park in the morning, come back to the hotel for naps, and back to the park at night. Children loved the Mickey Waffles at Capt Cooks and was a great place for fast and easy breakfast. Do agree with many readers who say the rooms are dark, but not really too big of a deal. Overall, great stay and would definitey recommend and return!

“Poly”

Great hotel with Great service and huge rooms. Only concern is how far our room was from the main ceremonial house. A bit of a hike getting back to the central lobby.

“Wonderful vacation!”

This was our second year back at the Polynesian and we loved it even more! Being September the hotel was quiet, we had moment at the pool when it was just the two of us! I would recommend this hotel because it truly transports you to a different world, a tropical beautiful one! We got to watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom from the beach of the hotel and it was just so romantic...and again so quiet and private (low season). I would recommend to get your breakfast at Captain Cook. And get a refillable mug there you will save a lot of money! I asked for a healthier version of the famous Mickey waffles and I got the gluten free version. They are relish and healthier! We also went for the first time to "Mickey's not so scary Halloween party" and we loved it! It was so much fun! Very light lines, beautiful fireworks and parades and just so much fun all around! We did a 5 day park hopper and some tips for the parks are: if you go to Animal Kingdom eat at ' Yak & Yeti' it was delish! Also if you go to Hollywood Studios grab go to Toy Story first to grab a fast pass! But most of all enjoy your magical time there because it truly is magical!!! PS: be sure to visit Islands of adventure and the Harry Potter park...amazing!!!!

“Great place to stay!!”

Hotel was very clean, pools were beautiful, friendly staff, close to Disney attractions!

Area recommendations

Magic Kingdom of course, Epcot was great, Disney Hollywood was alot of fun and Downtown Disney was good for shopping.

Getting around

The Polynesian Resort is one of few resorts that offers the conveniance of the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. The monorail is located just steps outside the lobby of the hotel.
