“Would do it again!”

Was very pleased with the whole Disney experience while staying at the Old Key West Resort! From the moment we checked in, the relaxed atmosphere of the resort, from the rooms to the pool areas, made us feel comfortable. Disney World can be a very "busy" place, having the Old Key West Resort to go back to was very comforting to know!

“Loved the easy access”

We loved just about everything at this "hotel". I quote hotel because it's really like a community. We rented a car (a must) so our favorite thing was being able to drive up basically to our door and park, no elevators, no parking garages, no parking fees. Even if you don't have a car, the "bus" stop is very near and buses constantly ran to/from all the places you'd want to visit in Disney. The only thing I can say semi-negative was our studio room was quite small, although it wouldn't stop me from booking there again.

What to pack
Everything is very casual, shorts and t-shirts everyday. Rain pancho, tennis shoes and a backpack/sling are a must for theme parks.

“Disney Fun”

We rented one of the villas and it was beautiful, the size of the villa made it comfortable to everybody in our party. It was great to come back from spending the day at one of the parks and having room to relax.

“Old Key West - Exceptional in every way”

The rooms are large, well appointed, and beds were VERY comfy - even the pull out sofa was extraordinarily sleepable. concierge was wonderful about helping with tickets and reservations. The number one requirement from Disney's hiring profile must be friendliness - you'd never know these folks might be having an off day.... even when working on Christmas day - they all seemed happy to he there. Transportation from the resort to parks was very timely and convenient. we especially liked having the boat option to get to downtown Disney right from the resort. Gift shop was well stocked - even with food and wine. all in all - a perfect vacation spot.

Events and shows
We loved the Outta Control Comedy Club in Wonderworks - terrific show - family friendly and a great value.

“Excellent Value”

Excellent location. Looked further away than it actually is to the parks-at most 2 miles. The suites give you lots of room and they are very quite. We had agolf course view and loved it. Staff was very helpful and room clean. You won't be disappointed if you stay here. We actually looked at Disney's other properties while we were there for future vacations and decided this property gave you the most square footage for the cost. We would choose this property again!!

Area recommendations
I would recommend staying at any of the Disney properties if you are going to Disney. Even if you stay at a moderate hotel, you still have the advantage of the "magic hours" and that's a huge benefit to get there and have a lot of the rides done before it gets crowded. You're on Disney property and it gives yo the feeling of safety.

“Week with the Grandchildren”

Old Key West Resort was very nice and it's location is very near Downtown Disney and Magic Kingdom. The room was well kept and in good condition. Since we were with our 3 grandchildren, having the extra space and bedrooms was great. Our only complaint was the resort covers a very large area and we had to ride a bus to go to the pool or eat at the restaurant at the resort.

“I've had better at Disney”

We are regular WDW visitors and have stayed at several of the Disney properties. As always, the property was esthetically pleasing and the room was nice. Since it was just two of us, we chose one of the smallest rooms. It was spacious enough and had all of the usual amenities. Having the refrigerator didn't prove to be that helpful as we didn't eat in the room nor did we have drinks that needed chilling. We were on street level so didn't have to lug suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. Our 'lake view' was obscured by the landscaping, so having the patio was of no benefit. As soon as we walked in the room, we could hear the family in the adjoining room. They ended up serving as our wake-up call most mornings, which was not a good thing and immediately tarnished my view of the room. I didn't like being that far away from the front desk/amenities since it forced either driving there or waiting on the bus. I also didn't like having a sit-down restuarant as the only option for breakfast. I prefer the other Disney hotels that have a food court that make it faster to eat and head off to the parks. I agree with the other reviewers that the furnishings are getting a little stale which brings the value (as compared to other non-Disney hotels) down. Since we minimize our time in the room while at Disney, I think in the future we will stick to the less expensive properties that better meet our needs.

Area recommendations
I like the Port Orleans - French Quarter property. It is pretty compact, so it's easy to get to the main building. There is a nice food court making it easy to eat-and-run. I also love that the bathroom sink is separate from the toilet/tub room, so that one person can be showering while the other is using the sink. It's also nice to have boat access to Downtown Disney.
When to go
Late April or early May should be a great time to visit - the humidity is lower and the number of school-aged kids is very low. Avoid the middle of summer - the humidity can be a killer!

“"Loved It"”

Beautiful setting, spacious rooms, fully equiped, lovely staff. Great transportation to the parks and downtown. Loved the ferry ride. Only downside of the entire complex was the on site restaurant. Felt a little bit like a cafeteria - chairs uncomfortable, too much light, not in keeping with the rest of the resort. Will come back again.
