“was better than expected !!!”
family vaction 4 adults and 2 young children was very roomy, loved the fact that there was a deck loved having adult time. Kids loved the bunk bed, kitchen was great. So much to do on the resort it self. Will be back just to stay there!!
“Cozy Clean Cabin”
I read the reviews on this site before booking at Fort Wilderness. I liked that cabins are equipped with kitchens so I wasn't obliged to eat expensive (and according to some reviews) not very good food. (There's enough of that to be had at the Disney Parks). There are pots, pans, silverware but no seasoning etc. The kitchen had clean and new looking Fridge(with ice maker) dishwasher . The grounds are beautiful. My twin teenagers and I never used any of the other amenities. We used the cabin as home base...came in late, slept late and went to" the parks". (We rented a car, bought a GPS and bought groceries at the local Winn Dixie. (W.D. is pricey, but give them your name and address and you are instantly a "preferred member" and get discounted prices). That way breakfast and late night (early morning) snack was taken care of. The cabin was cleaner and nicer inside than I expected given some of the other reviews. I did have a sagging bed, that I called housekeeping about. I thought it was a bad mattress. Turned out it was a broken board in the box spring frame. They changed it out promptly. Maria, the housekeeper was very sweet, but spoke virtually no English. Take care stepping out of the the tub/shower....it's a bigger than normal step down than you'd expect. Fortunately they provide a cable for internet. Unfortunately they charge $10.00 for every 24 "contiguous" hours. If it's rides you're after, I recommend Universal Studios over the Disney parks.
“Boston Family”
Log Cabin was great for our family of six but the location of this hotel is far away from everything. You need to take a bus or buses just to get to the pools, front desk or restaurants on this property.
“Fort Wilderness June 2011”
We have stayed at Fort Wilderness Cabins more than 10 times. This is the first time I would have to say that the stay was not 100% perfect. They had one pool open instead of two and for the amount of people staying there it just does not work unless you go very early or very late. Still not a big deal in the overall scheme of things. The front desk check-in person, John, who has been there for over 30 years is an asset to everything Disney stands for. He really is amazing. Probably due to the economy they are far more shorthanded then I remember but overall we did not want for anything and the employees on hand are extremely pleasant. I would always go back to the cabins before anywhere else on the property.
“It was perfect for our family”
We were so pleased with the size of the cabin. We had five adults (3 men who are over 6' 3" and 3 XL) and we never felt crowded. We loved having the private porch to enjoy our coffee on in the morning. It was quiet, private, and felt more like our own little home than a hotel room. When we go back to disney we will most surely return to Fort Wilderness.
“Cabins”
Disneys fort wilderness cabins are unmatched for families with small children. The space and large kitchen are a must!
“cant wait to go back”
was probably the most relaxing vacation we have had in along time. There was a lot of activities for my daughter. The only thing I did not like was the food. You had to make reservations to eat. No food court like the other Disney properties.
“Good for small families”
There are definitely nicer properties at Disney, but we liked staying in the Fort Wilderness cabins together as a family rather than staying in adjacent hotel rooms. The whole Fort Wilderness site was neat and I wish we had an extra day or two to explore everything there. My children loved taking a boat to the Magic Kingdom and the whole camping atmosphere. The only drawback for me was the lack of nearby dining options.
“Great Disney Stay for larger family”
Our stay in the Ft Wilderness cabins was terrific. We had 4 adults and 2 small children in one cabin and were comfortable. We dediced not to rent a golf cart but did call a week prior to request a cabin near a bus stop, which they easily accomidated. Once we figured out the bus routes, it was easy to get around the resort. We had groceries delivered. It was great to make a few meals and have drinks to take into the parks - a big money saver. The cabin and entire resort was clean and staff was very helpful. So many activities to do at the resort itself - most we didn't even have time for! Would definitely recommend the cabins to anyone - especially if you don't want to do the disney meal plan but still want to maintain a lower budget. Having a full kitchen to be able to bring in drinks and snacks to the parks is a huge money saver!
“A great place for families”
The cabins at Ft Wilderness are a great place for families during the holidays. The campground is decorated beautifully, it is fun to ride golf carts in the evening and look at the decorations. One of our favorite things about the campground is going to the beach to watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. It is simply magical! While the beds are not very comfortable and the cabins are beginning to look older. This place will remain a tradition for our family for years to come.
