Had a great stay at the Inn at the Convention Center - would recommend selecting the "downtown view" side as the view is amazing and there's currently construction going on across the street on the other side. Overall my stay was really pleasant and all the staff (front desk/maids/manager) were extremely pleasant. Would definitely stay here again!
We have stayed before, and it was our first pick this time. We bring our grandsons to basketball games at the Moda Center. Don't be fooled by the older looking exterior, the rooms were clean & comfortable. We love that we can park the car and the Moda Center, resturaunts and other places of interest, are all within a very short walking distance. The boys always enjoy the indoor swimming pool. The staff is friendly, with very quick check in. When we travel it is all about what is easy. This is the perfect place for us, with the rooms being so nice and inexpensive, not having to drive around. I also love the free breakfast, it is so nice to take the kids to eat breakfast, pack up and head out to our next destination, with out having to get on the road, look for a resturaunt and unload the kids again. We will always stay at this hotel when we are in this area of Portland.
"Close to bars and restaurants, and friendly staff."
The hotel was great. Close to Amtrak station, only $8.00 in a taxi from Amtrak to the hotel, across the bridge.
Friendly staff, and a mini-mart for essentials. Free 24 hour coffee and tea in the hotel Lobby.
Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed the trip from the start! The location is great and easy to get to the convention centre, Moda centre, surrounding hip neighborhoods and pubs, and close to public transit rail as well!
The hotel is spotless and so comfortable. The most affordable and value based hotel we could find where we were getting our moneys worth and loving it! The buffet in the morning was great. Shout out to the staff for being so kind and demonstrating exceptional customer service. We got 2 free buffet tickets that greeted us in our rooms after we checked in. My birthday was the day before and my boyfriend and I were celebrating, so that was so sweet of them to give us those free buffet tickets!
The only downer about the hotel was the expensive parking fees. Otherwise, I had no other complaints!
I would stay at the Motel 6 in Portland again. It was an easy walk to the convention center where I was attending a conference. Desk personnel were very pleasant, cars in the parking lot were relatively new, and the guests I saw appeared to be vacationers looking for a less expensive but reasonable accommodations. I saw an older couple and two mid 20ish men with new mountaineer type bikes. But no hairdryer :(. I stayed 4 nights. The last night there was a strange moan/whimper that occurred every 15 to 30 seconds. It turned out to be the pipes that had air in them. I used the red rail line from the airport ($2.50) to get to the motel and there was a station just 1 block from the motel. Extremely convenient. There is also some type of bus/street car stop adjacent to the motel which I did not use. Parking and WiFi are also free!!! Not like the more expensive, upscale hotels nearby where parking was around $10 per day. I also saw a sign that they accept dogs under 80 lbs but there was a lady walking her Great Dane around the complex. I like dogs so that was okay with me. I ordered pizza, pasta, salad, chicken wings from a menu in the room and the restaurant delivered. The room had a microwave and refrigerator so I could save the leftovers for breakfast, etc.

Motel 6 Portland Downtown is minutes from Portland Intl Airport and within walking distance of the Portland Convention …More
This is not a fancy place, but it is immaculately clean, and it's close to downtown, right at the east end of the Broadway Bridge. You can walk across the bridge and be in downtown Portland in 20 minutes or so. I thought the beds and pillows were very comfortable--nice and firm. I slept extremely well here. The man at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. Best of all, it's very quiet! It's right across from the Moda Center, and I realized that some of our fellow guests were young folks who'd come for a sporting event. "Uh oh," I thought--they're going to come back from the game at midnight drunk and make a tremendous racket. And indeed, I heard them return, but as soon as they stepped into their rooms, there was dead silence. I once or twice perceived a footfall in the room overhead, but I could not hear one single hint of voices or music or TV from any other room. Wonderful! I would definitely stay here again. Note that the heating/cooling is via a guest-controlled unit in the room rather than a thermostat (I'm pretty sure), so it takes a little more managing than a room where you just set the thermostat.
