“5 STAR NOT”
This hotel has really great staff/service and a beautiful location on the ocean. The rooms really do need renovating. Worn carpet, stains on the upholstery, rusted shower fixtures, rusted AC vent and loud! You pay for 5 Star and you get 3 Star. The food is just average. The Spa was nice. I made the mistake of using the pool side bathroom and was completely grossed out by the uncleanliness and there was kiddie poop in the sink from a diaper changing. At the end of a day with a ton of kids the pool is dirty and stuff is floating in it. I stuck to the beach after that. It probably was 5 star back in the day, but it's definitely not now. You would be better off spending your dollars on some great dining out and stay at one of the smaller properties in Laguna Beach. I think what keeps this place going is the weddings and it's great staff and naive people that don't know what 5 Star is supposed to be.
“Subpar service, amazing views”
The general service at this Ritz doesn't meet the 'Ritzy' standards we've come to expect from this hotel brand. Examples include messing up room service dining orders twice in four days, not delivering our luggage to the room in a timely manner, forgetting our request for a microwave/refrigerator, and wasted time at check-in (1-2 hours) regarding package incentives included in our Expedia reservation. On the bright side, its location and views of the Pacific Ocean are magnificent. The rooms were also comfortable and clean.
“paradise”
This is a magnificent property. The decor inside of the hotel is equally magnificent. The richly colored carpet, walls, vases with roses and sculptures are jaw-droppingly beautiful without making you feel like you are in a museum. Dinner in the main restaurant was beyond wonderful. The seafood rizzoto was spectacular and so was the lamb chops. The waiter even dropped rose petals on our table. The view is amazing from the hotel because of the fact that you are on top of a cliff but very easy to get down to the beach. We watched surfers from the outside terrace which was really cool. The rooms are extremely impressive and the bathrooms...oh, the bathrooms!!! I can't wait to return and when I do I will be sure to bring the extended family.....can't wait.
“Ritz”
I had a garden room that unfortunately faces an outside walkway and a wall. No garden, but a noisy pool about 50 feet away. At 6AM I found out that I was next to the room where they store all the cleaning crew carts. They began moving them and rolled them across the rough walkway outside my room that made a very loud noise and woke me up. Did not stop making the loud noises all morning, even with calls to the front desk. Poor design and location. They need to put some soft rubber tires on those carts if they are going to be wheeling them across a rocky/rough walkway at 6M 10 feet from my bed.
“Dana Point”
A coffeee maker in the room would have been nice. There is a coffee shop off the lobby but it wasn't open in the evening.
“one of the best hotels I ever been, nice view”
the only problem was the pool was very busy , there were no security at the pool and many people coming form outside just to stay near the pool
“Lovely Hotel, Great Views”
Stayed there for a long weekend, the hotel is beautiful and located on top of the cliff with magnificent views. Though the swimming pool does not have any views it sits in courtyard facing the rooms of the hotel, but its still nice. Make sure to get the rooms with the ocean views. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful especially the Valet people. I absolutely recomend this hotel.
“Very good value for money”
Amaizing location. Great beach. Outside of the city, so if you need to be in the middle of everything - not a place for you. However, the hotel is fully self-content. Amazing place! Great rooms! Great restaurant! undescribable view!
“Some problems. But overall a 4 star hotelin my opinion.”
Staff was great. Hotel is beautiful with wonderful views. Original rooms offered were not acceptable i.e. pool view but you would have to be a giraffe to see it around the corner. Air conditioner is noisy and not good for light sleepers. Bathtub needed replacement, broken nightstand drawer and switch on the nighttable lamp. Offered a bottle of water and a kiddie moviefor the inconvenience.. Streamers were on one of the water sprinklers.
“Wrong choice”
Was not what we expected. It felt like a regular 2 or 3 star hotel on the beach- a dirty cold beach. Service of staff was sub par if that. The pool is less than average. The room was nothing special and had stains in the carpet. We will never return there.
