“This is a Fairmont?”
There was a very big, loud night life going on in the main lobby when I entered the hotel. It was an unusual scene for 10:30 pm on a Wednesday night. When I went up to my room, the hallway, and room had a really strange odor. The bed linens, bed & room service were typical of a Fairmont, but that was about it.
“Nice common areas”
The lobby, lounge and restaurant were very nice looking. The bed was quite comfy but only doubles so tight sleeping with two. The only bad things were the furniture was beat up. The carpet was worn and had stains in spots. The staff were very nice. For the price it was a good deal.
“Nice, upscale,but not stuffy....”
The Fairmont was a beautiful hotel! Very convenient to the airport without having to hear the planes too much. My room was nice and clean, and the beds extrememly comfortable. The bathroom was nice with a granite countertop vanity. It was spacious and warm. The tub looked like it could use a good scrub, but it wasn't HORRIBLE. The closet was good sized with plenty of hangers (seems most hotels only provide 3-4 hangers) for all of my clothes. I loved that the safe and refrigerator were supplied, but hidden from view by the large dresser/armoire/cabinet piece. I would definitely go back to the Fairmont!
“Fairmont Newport Beach”
Every detail of the room was carefully thought-out. The bathroom was beautiful. the framed mirror, ornate lamps and marble basin counter were beautiful. The toilet was even above ordinary. It had a slight decline in the rear quarter which somehow easily facilitates sitting upright while on the commode. The sheets were not mere sheets. Between a sparkling white sheet and a top sheet with crisp ribbons of satin (an alternating stripe design), was a half inch thickness of light, fluffy, comfort. The mattress itself was marvelous. I slept perfectly, all night. After we left, I regretted that I had not packed the pillows into my suitcase. The only caution I give is this: many things you might expect (if you are a budget traveler, like me) to be free or "included" are not. Internet: $13.95 for 24 hours. Valet parking (mandatory) $28, plus tips. Breakfast: $21 for basic fare that would cost $8 at IHOP. (I did not eat there. I expect it is more delicious than IHOP.) Two very brief calls to central California (about 5 minutes total) cost more than $16. The second call was required after the first call cut out after less than two minutes. However, the Fairmont is highly recommended if your transportation is not a point of derision.
“fine for a night”
but wouldn't go back unless I had to
“Enjoyed our stay”
We like to go to Newport Beach for a quick weekend getaway (we live an hour south). The hotel was beautiful, clean and conveniently located. Our room was nicely decorated and looked updated except for an older, scratched up dresser. The staff was helpful and responsive when we reported a tv problem that was fixed quickly. We had a 10 minute power outage one morning, but that didn't affect our stay. One complaint we have is the required valet parking. We've stayed at other hotels that have valet parking, but also have self parking areas. It's not worth the $30/day fee (in addition to tipping the valets!) The other complaint is the fact that the room didn't have a mini fridge or microwave. Makes it hard to store drinks or left overs! So if you can overlook a few shortcomings, definately a great place to stay!
“Good location, below average conditions”
The hotel location is great if you need to be in orange county. The valet service is prompt and not a bad deal if you can get the 50% off valet deal with free room wifi. However, the hotel had some issues. There was an elevator that stank like feet! My bathroom sink was clogged and drained really slow. There was no fan in the bathroom so it was very humid in the entire room. The size of the pool is small. The price of the hotel was still reasonable given the above problems, but I had expected way more from the Fairmont hotel chain.
“Disappointed about the parking situation.”
Valet parking is the only parking available at this hotel and it costs $28 per day!
“Hotel was nice but needed facelift.”
The hotel was nice but not up to Fairmont standards. Everything needed a bit of a facelift. Furniture was from the 80's. Alot of the electrical in the room did not work. Very nice pool and food services.
“Power Outage. No explanation”
The first hotel we stayed at had construction so we went to this one. In the middle of the night the power went out. I was on the 10th floor. No one tried to explain what happened. No follow up. No refund.
