“Very Nice Stay”

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel doesn't offer anything extraordinary but it certainly does take care of you and the rooms are VERY nice and spacious. The bed was absolutely heaven to sleep in. I recommend this hotel. Just don't expect to be wowed by the property. It's very nice but not fabulous.

Area recommendations
Head south to Laguna Beach if you want to be wowed.

“VERY IMPRESSED”

I was extremely impressed with the Hotel's service. They were top notch and i would go back to enjoy this wonderful view. The hotel was right on the marina and had kayaking and bicylcles right on the resort to rent for a fee. There were bike trails right on Pacific Coast Hwy as well or even a bus that runs Pacific Coast Hwy right at the entrance of the driveway at the Hotel if you want to catch a bus to take you to some of the local attractions if you do not have a rental car. You can walk to the beach from the hotel as well if you enjoy walking. The walk is about 2.2 miles to where you catch the ferry from Balboa Island over to the Peninsula which is where the actual beach is located. Would love to go back..the weather was great and so was the hotel and staff. There was a grocery store about 1 mile from the resort (Pavillions) as well for picking up items that you might need or just groceries in general. Would highly recomment this hotel and location to anyone looking for a beautiful resort with exceptional service. The only draw back was the fitness room was small for those who like to really work out and the spa is not available unless you pay additional to actually get on site where the spa is located. But this was not a deal breaker and would still recommend this resort for others to enjoy.

Area recommendations
Definitely go to Balboa Island and take the Ferry to the Peninsula to ride bikes or go to the Fun Zone where there is a ferris wheel and arcades if you have children. But there are bikes and jet skis and boats that you can rent as well. Only $1 per person to take the ferry to the Peninsula and is only about a 3 minute ride across the bay.
When to go
We went in mid July and seemed to be the perfect time to be there.

“First Class Balboa Club”

The Balboa Bay Club and Resort was one of the best hotels I have stayed at - truly first class service! We arrived very early so our room wasn't ready, but reception took our number and called when we could check in. In the meantime we had a delicious lunch under the palm trees and a stroll on the beach. Upon arrival, they upgraded us to a deluxe water view suite..we were astonished! TWO beautiful balconies looking out over the yachts on the bay, an enormous, elegant bath with all the amenities, extremely large and comfortable bed, a large guest bath, and of course separate living room/dining area fit for a king. We had a first-rate classy meal on the water at sunset at the First Cabin Restaurant, and enjoyed the olympic pool and hot tub. It was elegant without being stuffy, and hotel staff were helpful, friendly, and completely professional, from Front Desk to Valet, to Restaurant to Bellmen. We also got brilliantly pampered at the Spa - such a treat we were truly sad to have to depart. I recommend this property in Newport Beach most energetically!

Area recommendations
The Newport Pier area was a blast - great beaches, surfing, sailing, cycling, roller blading, wonderful restaurants/bars, and such spectacular views - worth every penny!
Dining
The finest meal was unquestionably First Cabin at Balboa Club and Resort - arguably the BEST sea bass I have ever tasted, with perfectly prepared veggies, light sauces, and so flavorful! We also raved about the lobster bisque, and the gaspacho. Soft shell crab was in season so we devoured this as well - and dessert complete with fresh berries, ice cream, our own hot fudge to pour, and wine. Also we thoroughly enjoyed the food, services, views, and prices at the Rusty Pelican - fairly casual California dining with creative menu and very helpful servers. For breakfast don't miss Woody's diner where the road into the peninsula begins - gigantic portions, very affordable, and fun environment. Frankly nearly every place we tried in Newport Beach was great, from cheap corn dog stands to top-end seafood places. Enjoy!!

“awesome hotel in Newport”

what an elegant and great service experience it is when staying at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort. The location is convenient and the accomadations are luxurious. The staff is as good as a Ritz Carlton, (ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen), but not stuffy or pretentious. I look forward to returning when I have more time.

“Newport Beach Trip”

Great spot if you're new to the area and planning on meeting others to show you around. I would recommend staying by the beach if you're alone and want to experience some night life (avg age by the beach is 20 - 45).

“Great hotel”

The food was excellent if pricey and the room was clean and spacious. The hotel was very accommodating to any special request and the staff was courteous, expedient and very friendly. The spa was luxurious and my facial and massage were very relaxing. My only complaint is that the water smelled from our room. I would definitely stay there again.
