"Lots of character, spacious rooms, welcoming staff"
My friend and I stayed in this wonderful hotel in mid-September through a deal with Expedia, it had everything you could wish for in the room including bath products, bath robe and slippers, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, free minibar (restocked daily), free Nespresso machine, even an umbrella! Also, you get a free map on arrival which was better than the one we paid for at the tourist information office.
We were allowed to check in a few hours early which was good and the staff were very attentive and not at all snobby which you can sometimes get in posh hotels. We had requested a canal view room on a high floor but were given a harbour view room on a high floor which was still lovely as it had a nice view and we could hardly hear any noise from the road.
I have seen a couple of negative reviews about the décor of this hotel. I can understand that the art deco style may not be everyone’s cup of tea but personally I’d rather stay in a lovely old building with lots of character with unique features than an ultra-modern hotel with no character that could be found in any city. In fact, I spent a little bit of time during the trip just wandering around the hotel looking around each floor. Not sure why a couple of people said the décor was dated as the building only opened as a hotel in 2007 so all the fittings and furnishings are modern.
Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend it to others, it was a lovely experience.
I had an excellent 4-night stay in Amsterdam. I was upgraded to the Junior Suite during my stay. The suite was super clean and relaxing with huge bathroom and useful furniture. The suite was overlooking Dam Square so you could hear slight noise but that doesn't bother me at all. The staff was very helpful. Best of all, the location cannot be beat if you're interested in staying in central Amsterdam. This place is worth every penny. I will stay here every time I go back to Amsterdam! One of my favorite hotels that I've stayed in during my international travels.
Spent a very enjoyable 3 nights at the Art'otel earlier this month. It is in a perfect location to get to from the airport and also for exploring Amsterdam. The breakfast was delicious, the bar had a great atmosphere and the evening food in the restaurant was very tasty and of a high standard.
On arrival we felt the reception area design did not live up to its 5 star hotel status, but the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
The bedroom was very modern, with everything one needs for a perfect break. Regretably the modern design made the bedside drawer and dressing table drawer unusable as the drawers were to slim to take any of our clothes etc, A bit of shame when we like to keep a tidy room.
The lighting in the bedroom was very creative but I would have liked to have had some where in the room/bathroom where I could have had a bright light to make it easier to apply make-up.
However, these are just minor issues and my husband and I would most certainly stay with you again and would recommend. Thanks for a great stay.
Perfect location, walking distance to Dam square,Central Station, red Light District,The Tram passes by side of the hotel, perfect to go to museum quarter etc....I cannot say how of a perfect location and nice hotel this is, definitely be back,
The NH Hotel is positioned brilliantly within a walk of the centre of town but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Tram stop is less than 1 min away so as a base it couldn't be better. Plenty of bars and restaurant's close by as well.
Room was very clean and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were bright, chatty and very well mannered.
Rooms have a safe. TV, well stocked minibar and complimentary tea and coffee.
The hotel has it's own bar but due to the location of the hotel I didn't actually use it.
Key card is needed to gain entry after midnight which I've never seen before but it made me feel even safer.
