Comfortable apartment-hotel with good facilities e

Posted 15-Nov-2014
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, good buffet breakfast, and restaurant, room well-serviced daily, leisure facilities included.
Cons: In the kitchen area, provision of glasses, dishes and utensils was limited, which might have irked if we had been using the kitchen more than we did.
Location: Location is a bit away from local shops (5 - 10 min walk) or transport (20 mins walk to tram / train station). Best to have a car available.
We spent 9 nights at Solplay, on holiday (as a couple). We would recommend the hotel to anyone, although best to have a car available as slightly isolated. Buffet breakfast was of good quality. We would normally make use of the kitchen area to make some of our own meals, but we used the hotel restaurant a lot as we found it to be good, and reasonably priced. Use of swimming pools / gym / sauna was included in price. Given the generally high quality of the hotel there were some odd gaps in the provision of dishes and kitchen equipment (e.g. no glasses other than 2 small tumblers, no dishtowel, no coffee/tea pot,... ); perhaps any omissions would have been remedied if we had asked, as we found reception staff invariably helpful..

Nice hotel, excellent staff very good facilities

Posted 31-Oct-2014
Staff are very helpful and friendly and the hotel has two really good pools and an excellent gym. An ideal location to visit Lisbon centre and to get to and from the airport. The apartment was very nice and overall just very friendly and relaxed. Would certainly recommend.

Excellent hotel in good location for city + beach

Posted 06-Oct-2014
Cons: A few minor bits of maintenance work is all that could be suggested here.
Location: Linda Velha isn't the most pleasant of areas and this has to be the hotel's only downfall, though not their fault at all.
A fantastic apartment-hotel in a great location for splitting time between the gorgeous city centre to the east and the lovely beaches to the west. A 20-minute brisk walk gets you to Alges train station, which then connects you in either direction into town in a couple of stops or up to the beaches in about 15 minutes. Very friendly staff and a great range of on-site facilities including outside and indoor pools, gym, sauna, 24-hour convenience shop, bar and a very good restaurant. Our apartment was cleaned daily to a high standard and at a time that was convenient to us, regardless of the maid's rounds. Our stay in late September/early October coincided with the end of the summer season so it was fairly quiet but we enjoyed the tranquillity and peacefulness this brought.

Pros: Views
Cons: Parking garage.
Location: Far from Lisbon
Front desk gave me a hard time when I asked for a cot in the living room. Nice to have garage parking. the garage was difficult to use because of poor design! > the spots were hard to get into. Views were spectacular Staff at night was helpful

Pros: Rooms, pool
Cons: Breakfast variety
Location: Near highways, comvenient to drive to Sintra, Mafra, Cascais and Lisbon
Spent 6 days. Accomodation was an apartment rather than a room, so it could accomodate very comfortably 2 adults and 3 kids. Furniture and decoration were clean and good, just the TV sets were old (tube). Hotel facilities were also very good and clean, with great outdoor pool and also a nice indoor one. Only thing that could be better, given the standard of tehe hotel, was the breakfast - it was good though, but could be better in variety.

Nice place to stay while visiting Lisbon.

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything
Location: Good location for exploring Lisbon and the surrounding area. There is Lidl supermarket 500m away.
We stayed here for a two week holiday while visiting Lisbon and the surrounding area. We had a comfort room that was more like a one-bed apartment. Large bedroom, large bathroom, large lounge with small dining table, sofa and kitchenette. The lounge and bedroom both shared a very large balcony overlooking the hotel pool and gardens and beyond that the sea. We spent most evenings having dinner on the balcony watching the sun set over the estuary and watching the container and cruise ships sail past. Facilities in the hotel were very good. The main pool was never too crowded, with plenty of sunbeds to go around. The indoor pool was quite noisy, but we didn't need to use that. There is a reasonably equipped gym with some running machines, weights machines and a free weights rack (dumbells) but no barbells. The buffet breakfast was excellent and you can eat in the restaurant or on the terrace outside by the pool. There was a cooked breakfast selection, selection of fresh fruit, pastries, and continental-style breakfast with cold slices of meats and cheeses, and cereals. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful everywhere in the hotel. The hotel is situated in the suburbs of Lisbon, in Linda a Velha, which means a bus journey into town. The hotel has a free shuttle bus that leaves at 0930. Alternatively, there is public bus stop 5 mins away, with the number 11 service running every 15mins or so into Lisbon for €3.25. I'd recommend this hotel.

Great pool area with a small wading area for young children. The apartment was very spacious including 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room space. Large balcony too.
