"Outstanding hotel, despite needing minor upgrades"
The location is excellent. It is about 20 minutes walk or a short cheap taxi ride to the ferry terminal and the railway station if you are using Oban as a centre for visiting the highlands and islands. The staff are helpful and courteous. The full Scottish breakfasts are outstanding, the bar meals are good, and the restaurant, though quite pricey, more or less lives up to its pretensions. The Jacuzzi bath in our room, which I think was standard in all, was a nice feature.
Access to the annex at the back, where most of the rooms are, is awkward; there are 14 stairs before reaching a corridor that leads to the lift, and a number of fire doors to negotiate. This could be a serious obstacle for anyone with mobility problems.
Soundproofing needs to be improved; the walls and floors in the annex were excellent transmitters of footsteps, creaks and plumbing noises, and at the front door is a notice asking people not to talk outside the door late at night because it disturbs the guests.
Despite those quibbles, I would go back there again.

whilst I could not fault the hotel the food two tear system didn't agree with me at all
I wasn't aware of it before I came and it could not be changed wilst I was their
I thought that I was a hotel guest they pointed out to me that I was a band b guest?
which gave a two tear price on the menus
I think that this should have been made a bit more prominent as I didn't want to go out that night
I was on a motorbike and had been very wet but I also wasn't about to pay twice the price ????

Our room was called the "Mull" room; we found it to be very spacious and comfortable. The location of the B&B was conveniently located making it an easy walk to the town of Oban.
In short, we would recommend this B&B to others.

My wife and I spent 10 days traveling around Scotland staying at smaller Inns and B&Bs. Blarcreen house was the most spacious stay we had. The house is older but inside you can't tell unlike other places we experienced. It is very clean and well kept. The owners are extremely welcoming and helpful. They made dinner suggestions and reserved a table for us there. The shortbread cake upon arrival was absolutely the best we had. I would recommend this stay to anybody looking to get away from people and spend some time out in the country (it really is a drive away from main roads).
