“Great location”

Except for a lack of recycle bins in the private rooms, the hotel was progressive and artistic. Recently renovated, the lobby and bar area are beautiful. All high tech amenities are offered with no extra charges. Located close to campus and not even half block from the BART.

Area recommendations
Stay in downtown Berkeley off Shattuck or Telegraph, within a couple of blocks from campus. Best shops, restaurants, colorful people.

“Great spot in Berkeley”

Great hotel with comfortable beds, cool decor and free, fast wifi throughout. It's 1 block away from the Downtown Berkeley BART station, which makes it super easy to get around the bay area.

Family-friendly activities
Check out Little Farm in the Tilden Nature Area. Kids (and adults too) can feed the animals (cows, pigs, sheep, goats) celery and lettuce (bring your own).

“Hotel Shattuck”

The staff were super friendly and willing to help with recommendations of places to eat and directions. The room was nicely appointed, very quiet, and clean. The only issue is that there isn't any parking on the actual site, so you have to park in a public garage across the street, which I didn't feel totally comfortable with; but there weren't any issues.

Area recommendations
North Shattuck - Nice variety of restaurants 4th Street - Good shopping Telegraph Hill - Interesting "hippie" shops The university is beautiful, and a fun place to walk around.

“exceptional service and decor”

This is a really lovely hotel with great staff and beautiful decor. The dining room is beautiful and historic and the renovation sensitive. The staff were unfailingly helpful. Indeed the place is an island of warm and professional service and a happy atmostphere amidst the somewhat wacky atmosphere of Berkeley.

Area recommendations
Not so sure, but this area tho' safe is a little dreary.But then Berkeley has a big mix of neighborhoods...

“Berkley classic”

This is a wonderful little updated gem of Berkley. The restaurant serves good food and wine, nice people watching and lots of places around the hotel to visit.

“Convenient Location, Newly Renovated”

Great location if not driving - parking not easily accessible and if you can find it, its expensive. BART is right across the street, which makes getting around and into the SF very convenient. Newly renovated hotel is lovely, decent sized rooms, FIVE has good reasonably priced food. Surrounding area on Shattuck is mixed, but within walking distance to campus and great restaurants.

“Not worth the price”

When we first checked in we were given a room on the 2nd floor that looked out onto the fire escape and the 1st floor roof. It was incredibly noisy - the roof had an AC unit right outside our window. We asked if we could be moved to a quieter room, and the staff was really nice about letting us move. Our next room was ok. It was very quiet, but tiny. Overall the hotel is nice, but not at all worth the price.

“Great location”

This is our second stay at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza. Conveniently located across the street from BART, access to Bay area attractions and the airport is great. The hotel is comfortable, the rooms are thoughtfully redesigned in a recent remodel. This is a green hotel, and everything is environmentally sustainable including the soaps and shampoos. This is a quiet retreat in the midst of delicious cafes and restaurants within walking distance. I would highly recommend.

“Berkeley hotel”

Nice hotel, not a chain so it doesn't have the sterile feel to it that other hotels sometimes have. Right next to the downtown Berkeley BART stop and right off of Stattuck so you can walk anywhere. Rooms are nice. Good bookstores either way on Shattuck and nice choices of places to eat. My personal choice for a great dinner is the hotel restaurant FIVE which is very good. The only negative is the noise level if it is crowded.
