“Comfortable and convenient.”

We looked for a place near our daughter in Oakland with easy access to San Francisco and this was really perfect for that. We were a party of five with three adult children so really appreciated the suites. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was really great with special mention for the blintzes.

“Nice hotel”

We went to SF to visit a friend, and decided to stay at the Hyatt. It was a very enjoyable experience. The rooms were clean and well kept, the exercise room was nice, and the breakfasts were delicious. The only problem I have is with check-in. I was waiting for 10 minutes for a gentleman to attempt to multitask with phone calls and other matters -- while trying to clear and authorization and couldnt -- resulting for me to have to call my bank, that was rather unpleasant. Otherwise, it was a great stay

“Lots of shopping/dining within walking distance”

Just what we needed. Dining, shopping, gas and groceries conveniently located nearby. Comfortable room (2-bed suite) that accommodated three adults. Walked to a Hertz at another hotel. You can get anywhere in the Bay Area from this location. The kitchenette was very useful, as was the free wi-fi. I did some laundry during our stay, too.

Area recommendations

The Hyatt is right in the thick of things. You can walk to Trader Joe's, restaurants, shopping, etc. Not much else to see in Emeryville.

Getting around

Get a map or a GPS. Study the map or program the GPS before you get on the freeway. Know where you want to go and how to get there before you start driving. East Bay drivers are pretty unforgiving if you don't know what you're doing and are trying to figure it out on the fly.

“Great price for a Great Suite”

This hotel definitely had the feel of a nice hotel. Updated and spacious lobby, nice rooms with clean carpet, well appointed. It is the best rate you can find for a suite with a full breakfast in the morning. We were there with our 2 kids (10 and 12) and it was great. There were a couple of glitches (phone in bedroom did not work, one of the two stove burners broken) but none that can't be forgiven for the price. Ordered ice and extra towels and they came within a reasonable amount of time (15-20 min)It is right next to the train station so you can hear the train, although it is not really noisy, if you are a very light sleeper, it may bother you. Restaurant service was a bit slow and understaffed. Food was good, but not exactly as listed (Caesar salad was Italian with anchovies and parmesean, flat iron steak was actually a sirloin). Great location across the street from lots of shops and close to freeways. Would definitely stay there again if we need a room in the area.

“Rundown exorbitantly priced hotel adjacent to railroad tracks”

The Woodfin, now Hyatt Summerfield Suites, is badly run down and in need of refurbishing, all the while Hyatt has remarkably raised rates and is expected to be raising rates again once the hotel is ultimately refurbished.

“Emeryville's Best Hotel”

Overall rating was very satisfied. But we're unlucky to have very loud exciting party people in the next room on Saturday night till Sunday morning. It was too loud to sleep. Except that, we're very comfortable.
