“Beautiful location”

This is the fourth hotel we have used in Berkeley and it was the easiest to find, park, with the best location and room size. Lots of movies, indoor pool, beautiful parklike grounds and marina view. Friendly check in and out. Bathroom small, but that is common in the Bay Area. Good price and quiet.

Area recommendations

This area was attractive and seemed pretty safe. You have to be careful in the East Bay because like most urban areas, the warzone and wealth can be side by side. It is easy to access the freeway.

“if possible,this is the place I will stay when going to Berkely”

nice and clean,the people at the desk very nice and well dresseed,the waitress at the restaurant very nice and the rooms clean,warm and cozy. will stay there on our next visit.

“Unbelievable view from Marina to SF Skyline!!”

A very good hotel for a SF trip on the othe side of the Bay. Berkeley is a student City. Th Comfort of the hotel is very good, they have a family pool, a pool for adults and a workout room. I the lobby is a mini Starbuck located. Overall au nice place to stay.

“Old Double Tree”

The service was great. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. The location was bad... there were almost no attractions, bars, or restaraunts in the area.. The hotel was very dated, if you are a light sleeper you will be able to hear noises from other rooms... would make this a not very romantic hotel as well. Their hot chocolate chip cookies were the best and are always available at the lobby :)

“Would recommend”

We stayed at this hotel for a family vacation. Overall happy with our stay. Location was important to us because we wanted to be near the marina for sailing activities. Stayed a week with a courtyard view. The room was nice and functional but not elegant. As a hotel snob I thought the carpet needed to be replaced. At the end of our trip, stayed an extra night in a different room with marina view. The marina-view room had nicer furnishings and of course a great view.

“nice hotel, only one complaint”

the hotel over all, provided a great stay. my boyfriend and i used the gym, the sauna, and the swimming pool. we even enjoyed the surrounding water, and the park with hills that we were able to view and walk around. my only complaint is, me being a college student, and paying for everything out of my pocket, i was really proud and excited to have rented a "jr. king suite, WATER VIEW." at least that's what i thought i picked when i was signing up for this hotel. unfortunately, our hotel room was not water view, and we got the view of all the tree particles laying on the small roof of the gym.. and the a slight view of the outdoor restrooms. i was really disappointed about that, because the only reason why i chose to spend that extra money for a "jr. suite" was to get that "water view." but apparently, according to one of the guys at the front, on the website, "they're just called 'water view,' but the jr. king suites aren't necessarily water view." and my boyfriend and i could not be moved to another room because the hotel had been full all week. i guess it's more of the fault of who ever does the web site. they should not have "water view" in the description if it is not water view.

“On the dock of the Bay!”

We were vacationing in the Bay area and the Berkeley marina is a perfect spot to experience both San Francisco and the east bay. The hotel is conveniently located near the interstate and it is easy to drive to the North Berkeley BART station to travel into San Francisco or to the Oakland Coliseum for an A's game. Across the street is a park with spectacular views of San Francisco Bay. The room was well equipped, except there was a fee for WiFi. Our room had a patio with a gorgeous view of the sailboats and fishing boats coming in and out of the marina. I would definitely go back for my next trip to UC Berkeley or even to San Francisco.

“Will not be the next time!”

We stayed there only one night. The pillows have no support. My husband woke up at four in the morning with a sore neck and back. The bathroom was not very clean either. It looked like the cleaning staff only took the trash out and change the towels after the previous guests left and before we arrived. Overall it was disappointing. Probably won't stay there again!!
