“treated like royalty at the Queen Kapiolani”
enjoyed our stay at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel immensely. Gorgeous Diamond Head view, proximity to the zoo, swimming in the pool and many Waikiki eateries and shops made for a most convenient accomodation! Staff was helpful and responsive to needs and we would have enjoyed more time to explore the Kapahulu neighborhood as well as the park and aquarium... alas, time as always in Hawaii is always MUCH too short...
“Noise kept us awake.”
Lower level too noisy to stay. Asked to change room, but took a couple of days with continuous request. Their explanation was that they had no room, but they offer to upgrade us with a $50 cost. No thnx. One +, the location is great especially if you want free parking close by other than that no + feedback.
“Great location”
Elderly Hotel, maybe in need of some refurbishment but impressive entree with chandelieres. Basically clean and nice. Great location, just oposite the Zoo and one street away from free parking. 2 minutes walk from Waikiki beach, Starbucks, Teddy's burger, rental surf boards and great view of Diament head. Nice pool area with comfortable chairs if for a change you don't wand sand between your toes.
“OK hotel for the price!”
The hotel needs renovating but overall it met our needs as we do not spend much time in the room. The service was great; on-site parking $15.00/day (which is reasonable in Waikki). Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. One block from the beach. Across the street from the zoo. Cons: the beds were very bouncy; elevators could be VERY slow; the house keepers turned off the a/c in your room while cleaning which meant you came back to a HOT room after being out all day. Windows need to be replaced; loud am traffic (garbage trucks etc...)
“Great locationb and cheap parking.”
The location was ideal, across from the zoo and beach. The parking was the cheapest on Waikiki. The building is old but well maintained. Very convenient.
“WE WOULD RECOMMEND THE HOTEL”
EXCELLENT SERVICE. ROOM QUITE COMFORTABLE. ROOM SERVICE WAS QUICK. DID HAVE ONE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT TAKE IT UP WITH R. SERVICE. THEY BROUGHT ANOTHER COFFEE MAKER AND DID NOT PLUG IT IN. THIS WAS A HANDICAPPED ROOM. WE TOOK IT (THE C. MAKER) TO ANOTHER TABLE AND PLUGGED IT IN AND USED IT FOR THE REST OF OUR STAY. NO PROBLEM.
“not thrilled”
This was my 2nd time staying at the QK. The 1st time we stayed we had a room with 2 double beds (as there was 4 of us) and a lanai with a view of Diamond Head w no problems. This time I returned with my boyfriend so we decided to get the moderate room w one double bed, big mistake!!! The room was so small that we could not open our 2 suitcases at the same time also NO counter space in the bathroom and the bed seemed smaller than a double and air conditioner loud and close to floor ( not very functional) and we had a close up view of our neighbors when we opened the curtains And the ice machine was right outside our door!! We asked to upgrade to a room w a king sized bed and there were none available so we changed to a room w 2 twin beds which was bigger and had a bigger bathroom w lots of counter space And even had a bathtub in the shower. The room was yes still small but definately bigger than the Moderate room with a double bed!! The twin beds were very small and my leg rolled off each night when changing positions ( I weigh 130lb), of course BF and I had to sleep in separate beds and I was tired entire trip from no sleep also you can hear the people in next room talking( thin walls). So to sum it up... Never Never stay/book the moderate room only stay in room w double beds w a lanai is best! The staff was nice (my fault I should have researched better) and location is good (away from all the hustle/bustle) close to zoo and beach
“Perfect Location”
We just returned from the Queen Kapiolani and i can't imagine that there is a better deal for staying in Waikiki... We were up graded to the top floor and had postcard views of both Diamond Head and the Beach, it was truly incredible! The location was quiet but maybe 10 metres from the beginning of the shopping and eating strip, so we didnt once get a taxi and could walk everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was awesome. The zoo is located across the street but other than the occasional screech from the birds (which I thought was lovely) it made the perfect view to look down to. I will definitely be returning to this specific hotel, I was so pleased as some of the reviews had me concerned but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at the Queen Kapiolani for making my week (and my first overseas adventure) so amazing! Mahalo!!!!!!!
“Not worth it”
The Queen Kapiolani Hotel was ok, but I've stayed in many other hotels over the years that have much much better customer service for the same amount of money. Not that money should define how you are treated.. but hey. All I can say is that the hotel was clean and it's one block from the beach, those are the only good reasons to stay there. If you're like me and you like feeling taken care of on your vacation pick one of the million other hotels, there definitely isn't any shortage, and at least the other hotels make it seem like they care that you are there!
“Decently Priced hotel in Waikiki”
The hotel is nice, cozy, comfortable, inexpensive, at a great location - less than a minutes walk from the beach. The parking is too small to accommodate the cars of all the guests. The carpets could get an uplift through cleaning, etc.
