“Hawaii Again”
Have already booked the same hotel for next year. Very satisfied with the hotel, its locations, its rooms and especially its staff.
“Ohana Waikiki West -Satisfaction”
Hotel staff are great and will do their best to accommodate, however, they will try and give the poorest rooms to Expedia (and other discount) guests. We had to demand a change of rooms, the first one was old, decrepit and tiny. My wife is physically disabled and we found they do have rooms adequate for wheelchairs. Our advice would be to call the hotel directly about a month in advance and tell them your needs. The rooms designed for the disabled are called "ADA" rooms and are much more accessible and more safely equipped . The Central Waikiki location is fantastic (for the price) and the services/amenities cannot be matched by neighboring hotels. Hotel food services were not to our taste but there is no shortage of restaurants and fast food nearby. Both Chili's and the pool bar (Cabanas) have excellent staff. The "Food Pantry" groceteria across the street has everything to meet one's needs. Onsite (contracted) parking is adequate and, while not cheap, is priced competitive with the area. Guest laundry services are clean and well maintained. Bell Service and Hospitality Rooms are cheerfully provided for late departures. Truly, a blessing. Would we stay at this hotel again? In a heartbeat, but we would make our needs known to the Hotel in advance.
“Will definitely return”
The hotel was in a great location. Close to everything. The porters were excellent.Room was clean. Free use of the trolley was a great bonus. Excellent value for the money.
“Not amazing but not horrible.”
It was ok for the money, but the smell of cleanser was so bad we had to leave the door open for days. The bathroom is very small and our view was looking straight into neighboring windows. There were only about 7 tv channels but we spent our time outside so it didn't really matter.
“Not impressed. The hotel is so big with lots of floors and rooms that we felt like just a "number".”
We had split our stay between Waikiki and the North Shore. We were in Hawaii for 16 nights. We had stayed at another nearby hotel for the first 6 nights and were very impressed with the service, the Aloha Spirit, cleanliness, location and friendliness at the Aqua Pearl Hotel. The staff at the Aqua Pearll went out of their way to help us with directions or just to converse with. We left Waikiki and spent 5 nights on the North Shore area and returned to Waikiki and stayed at the Ohana West and regretted it, right from check in. The check in staff were not very friendly and did not have the Aloha spirit that we had enjoyed for the first 11 days in Hawaii and in fact were quite rude. We had booked to stay in the Ohana West for 5 nights and after the first night, we were woken up at 8:30am by housekeeping knocking at our door to see when we were going to be checking out and again at 9:30am. Naturally, we were very annoyed as we were still in bed at 8:30am and had another 4 nights to go before checking out. I would not recommend this property to anyone who wants the Aloha spirit, service, quality, cleanliness or a good nights sleep because you won't get it at this hotel. There is a noisy bar downstairs and a night club across the road from this hotel. We were treated just like a number and bums on beds. Sad really..... We will not be staying at this hotel again and would be reluctant to stay at another Outrigger Chain. We prefer the Aqua Hotels, thank you very much.
“Not Impressed”
Location was great but hotel service and cleanlineess was unsatisfactory. Hotel needs a facelift and rooms smelled very moldy.
“The Friendly Place To Stay.”
I really enjoyed my stay but as always there was some things that made our holiday not as good as it should have been. The one thing that was the hardest to put up with was the outside noise. The rooms were in no way sound proof and because of the central location we endured traffic noise continuously. Not only cars and buses but police, fire and ambulance sirens were extremely regular during the night. It is such a shame because when you are trying to squeeze a lot of things into every day, you really need to have a good sleep. I resorted to wearing ear plugs but that is not an ideal way of sleeping. Please accept my criticism as constructive as I would also like to compliment the staff as they were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definately stay there again.
“Needs Rapair”
The only good thing about this hotel is the comfort and the location. Its really gotten old. Needs to be updated bad. I have stayed at this hotel 4 out of the last 5 trips to Oahu. Next time I think I will update to another hotel.
“Location - Rooms need updating”
Stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West for 6 nights. This is our 2nd stay as we've previously stayed there. Location is great, right next to a grocery store. Some rooms have kitchenettes (on request). Free trolley bus to Ala Moana is great (otherwise it's $2/person per trip). It's a budget hotel, you get what you pay for. I only choose to stay there for convenience and price. Will try a different hotel upon our next stay in Waikiki.
“good hotel for the price”
like all hotels in honolulu, this one needs an upgrade. it is still clean and the staff are extremely helpful. the location is the best, not too far from the beach and all the stores, and being close to the supermarket was good too. the only problem is the street noise around about 4am in the morning. this woke us up a couple of times during the ten nights we were there. apart from that being our only complaint I feel that the hotel is well worth the money and would consider staying there again.
