“Makaha in Waianie wish i could have stayed longer”
the room i had was well maintained the only thing that seemed odd was not having a LCD or Plasma TV , the room actually had a 20 Tube TV , minor as i did not watch much TV , the resturant was pretty good only real issue was they kept running out of menu items daily , lastly even thought the resort has a golf course its not actually part of the hotel someone else bought the golf course , hopefully the same people who bought the course will eventually buy the hotel :)
“Makaha is closing Oct 31, 2011”
Location is 34 miles from Waikiki, you need to have a car in order not to waste your precious vacation time. Down south about a mile away is a squatter area for the homeless which is by the beach. When i took a shower on the first day, the bath tub was clogged - I called the front desk for the maintenance person to fix it. The guy came less than 5 minutes. Resort was tranquil and the breeze coming from the ocean mixed with the smell of plumera was very refreshing. Staff was not friendly - they hardly look at the guests to greet and give a smile. On our last day, I grabbed the morning newspaper and the headline says "Makaha Resort closing Oct. 31." That explains the mood of the staff. Also this was our first vacation in Hawaii. It's hard to enjoy vacation here when you know and hear there's a great animosity between the locals and the "whites" and tourists. Locals always remind the tourists Hawaii is theirs. There are signs on the street protesting American occupation of the island.
“HORRIBLE HOTEL”
I booked the king sized bed for our honeymoon and after much exhaustive travel we arrived late at night to discover 2 separate beds!!! We were too tired to worry about it so the next day we told the front desk and they said they were all out and too bad for us!!! They made no offer of concessions, no apologies and no remorse. Our room was frequently left unkempt. We had to reuse towels for days. They ruined our honeymoon. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone anytime. This place is horrible. They have no customer service. We wasted our time and money. DO NOT BOOK.
“Amazing quiet location, worth the drive.”
People in Waikiki complained about waking up to cars and sirens, we woke up to birds. Nuff said.
“" Want to return, but there are alot of issues to be addressed "”
The surrounding are beautiful, but what a waste when the interior of the rooms are shabby, rundown, and electrical outlets not working....the staff is friendly and pleasant, I hope to visit again, with a much more uplifting interior.....
“Peaceful”
If you are looking for a peaceful vacation away from the noise and congestion of Honolulu this is the place. Not flashy or overtly "tourist", the resort is quiet and simple. Everything you need without too many frills. Staff is helpful, polite and full of the aloha spirit.
“Will go back.”
Great place to spend some quiet time on the peaceful side of the island. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded. We felt safe and enjoyed the friendly and courteous service at the resort.
“Won't come back at all.”
- The rooms are completely outdated. - Maids didn't clean our room on the first day and when they did, they did not replace the sheets they simply made the beds with the old ones. - Food, completely awful. We know in Hawaii there's the Hawaiian time, but seriously... it took 45min to get 2 EGGS and 2 cups of coffee... - Back to the room, the carpet was VERY old and was stinking. I have found bed bugs. Neighborhood..... Waianae. AWFUL! Do not go to this hotel no matter how good the deal is.
“too many bug in room just a bad experiment”
the hotel need up grades it too old and the bigs were taking over the room i was in
“An average experience; A Value Stay”
The hotel is friendly. The food is really so so. The location is a bit far from the city. But it is a good deal. I will probably go back.
