Happy my room was clean and shower hot. Good view, male cleaner and security are very helpful and very friendly. Unfortunately the front reception was not friendly and spoke very fast i felt unimportant and that she just couldnt be bothered , absolutely no customer service skills.

Reluctant to give towels. Housekeeping is terrible, no back up generators lights went off for more than 30 minutes, overpriced it’s like a hostel.

Hotel is pretty old and looks like is falling apart which is understandable since is not an expensive stay. However what made me disgusted and disappointed was coming into my room at night and turning my light on to find a dozen of cockroaches roaming everywhere! We hadn’t even purchased food. They where around the furniture and around our luggages. They where nice enough to switch us room to a better one but I was very creeped out! Everything else seemed clean but sadly there was no one cleaning through out our stay so if you need new towels you have to take the dirty ones and trade them for clean ones.

The reviews on the monarch are way off. You can expect Old antiquated furniture. A noisy window air conditioner, which will not keep the room cool. Our feet turned black in a very little amount of time from walking around the room..

The hotel is old and dirty, smell and the room is very small. There is nothing at this hotel at we like. Bad service. They don’t do room service very day and or unless you requested.

The Waikiki Monarch is very walkable, Target , Walmart, 7-11, beach near-by in 1- 3 blocks. The neighborhood is mostly quiet. Waikiki is always dirty, all of it.

Round about access. They only take cash for parking. I was sent to a room that was uncleaned. Beds unmade, gabage everywhere. The front desk acted like it was my fault.

It was on the outskirts of Waikiki, meaning we weren’t in the hustle and bustle. It was comfortable for a staycation and restful getaway. The hotel wasn’t an upgraded hotel but affordable.

Paint peeling everywhere. Ants and mosquitoes in our room upon arrival. The beds consisted of 2 flat sheets on top of an encased mattress, I assume from bedbugs. Someone else's hair in many places including the refrigerator. The ac smelled badly of mildew and we would wake up with a dry cough daily, (not sick!!). The parking garage is not included but $40 a day! Very limited parking available and various other businesses being ran throughout the garage and other areas of hotel. Sketchy to say the least. The elevators have to be the worst part of the experience. We were placed on the 22nd floor so waiting for the elevator to arrive was a good 10-20 min wait. Then you are stopped every 2-3 floors to add 2-4 people per stop!! At one point I had to get out of the elevator after letting a group know we were full but they proceeded to enter anyway. The elevators also malfunction occasionally and switch directions halfway through your route. Rental car business right in front of parking garage left us continually waiting in the street for an opening to enter. Just spend a little more and go to a reputable business.

No Attendant assistance for our baggages to and from the room. Site said Parking was included in the booking. Unfortunately, we weren't orovided that we had to park several blocks from hotel. The night front desk said they didn't have any while morning shift clerk they had several parking spaces for those who had reserved prior to arrival

I was traveling home and only needed a one night stay. Only one staff member was even remotely helpful. She was a middle aged local mahu woman. Very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff was awful. Everything was an inconvenience to them. A friend tried to drop of dinner for me and the front desk staff wouldn’t call my room. The room looked clean but linens were the bare minimum sheets and a scratchy blanket. Even worse we were bitten by mites or some other small bug. Hard pass on this hotel!

BAD!!! Do NOT stay here! There was drug paraphernalia in the hallway outside of our room, the entire stay. The room was not clean. They continued to charge our credit card for on going charges that were not ours forcing us to cancel that credit card! When I attempted to contact the manager, she is always in meetings, avoiding me. This place is an ongoing nightmare from the moment we set foot on the property! To be fair the front desk manager did finally reverse the last charge for linens that were stained prior to our check in after numerous phone calls and arguments.

Black mold on the ceiling above the shower, no hot water one morning, no staff at night so there was no one to talk to about the noise/arguing in the next room for 3 hours. The area around the hotel was great for food etc but I would definitely find a different hotel to stay at.

Incompetent, need to step up in sanitation.
The beds were very untidy, bedsheets not ironed, cockroaches under coffee maker and microwave, low water pressure in shower. Raised complaints and got a change in room. Stayed 3 nights but when I requested for cleaning of the room, change of beddings and towels, it was not done, and yet they indicated that it was done. So after along day of touring I found a dirty room with all the Trash from the previous day. I called for towels and was asked to go down and sign for them at the reception. Found a very rude and abusive night staff. She was so rude. I talked to day staff the next morning requesting again for the room to be cleaned when I went out, but still on coming back it wasn’t cleaned and the receptionist was now telling me that they didn’t clean it because it was cleaned the previous day which wasn’t correct. When I insisted they sent someone to change the bed sheets and towels, plus emptying the bins. That was all that was done for the cleaning leaving the sink in the bathroom not even touched. I was very disappointed.

In 7 days they only service the room once the towels were only exchange they wouldn’t give out an extra one. Floors were dirty all the time, bedsheets were dirty from day one with stains all over it! Couldn’t get another hotel in Waikiki other ways I would’ve left.

Great hotel for a great price!
The staff was amazing with so much Aloha! They were very helpful! The location was great. Walking distance to Waikiki beach, shopping, and restaurants. Would definiitely stay here again. The price was such an amazing deal! Well worth it!

I saw cockroaches in the room. Front desk receptionist some had limited English skills. Elevator went out and everyone had to walk flights of stairs to room in the dark. I had 20 flights to walk up

Terrible place. Some rude staff. We got what I would call a second rate room BECAUSE we booked on Expedia and they made that quite clear. Absolutely nowhere to hang clothes, not even a hook on a wall. Shampoo but no conditioner in an Expedia room. Although I saw it on a maid cart for another floor. Old chipped and marked furniture, only 1 bedside night stand. Old moldy curtains. Noisy window air conditioner. Shower water pressure not much more than a trickle.
