Good hotel in a good location

Posted 13-Aug-2014
We arrived at 3am due to a delayed flight and we couldn't have been greeted by a more pleasant and helpful man. He checked us in quickly and efficiently, told us about the area and gave us a map and explained how to get to the main shopping places and the beach (which was a 5-10 minute walk in a straight line from the hotel). The hotel itself was clean and the room contained a fridge and microwave which were really handy. It was on a quite street so there was no outside noise. If i were to visit Hawaii i would definately go back to this hotel.

Nice and quaint

Posted 09-Aug-2014
Pros: We had a balcony over the canel...
We stayed for 1week and were very happy with the nice, clean, colorful hotel. It was our 1 year anniversary so the room was perfect for us as vacationing honeymooners. We had a nice view of the canel...no hustle bustle of the beachwalk area yet close enough to walk and enjoy waikaki beach. Loved it!!!!!!

You get what you pay for...

Pros: Cleanliness and friendly staff. The staff creates an entertaining display (chalk art) in the lobby each morning with suggested activities.
Cons: There was always a bowl of apples in the lobby. It would be nice to see some variety.
Location: The beach is about 3-4 blocks away.
I found a good price for this hotel, located just a few blocks from Waikiki beach. The facility was very clean and the staff friendly. The elevators are in need of renovation as they are noisy and 'rickety'. We stayed for a week and it met our needs. There were three things we were disappointing: 1. The room was SMALL. Not all of the rooms, just ours. You could tell by the posted evacuation plan that our room was the smallest. Perhaps this was the reason for the low rate. 2. Valet parking is the only reasonable option during high season. Parking on the street is impossible to find. At $28.00 / night, it cost more to park the car than to rent it! 3. They have a small business center (2 computers and a printer). You have to provide a credit card and if you are on the system for more than 20 minutes it starts charging. I've travelled all over the world and this is the only place I've seen that charges for this. Although not a huge deal it did seem a bit "nickel and dimey"

Hawaii Life

Posted 01-Aug-2014
Hotel location is perfect and hotel staff were friendly! They always made sure we knew where we were going and if we needed any assistance with direction, they came through! Since it's small, we got to our hotel working seconds and we were on the 3rd floor. Would definelty come back to this hotel next trip to Oahu

Wonderful stay, would go back tomorrow!

My daughter and I stayed at the Coconut for 7 nights, July 3 - 10. I had originally booked a standard room, but paid a reasonable amount (well worth it to us) to upgrade to a room with a kitchenette (nice stainless steel fridge, microwave, sink and cupboards with some glasses, plates etc). We were on a lower floor with a view of the canal and mountains. We loved this hotel. Because it is a smaller hotel, we felt a more personal connection with the staff, who were always really helpful and friendly. They seemed at all times so genuinely happy we were there! One young man (wish I could remember his name!) went out of his way to suggest activities to do (we did go hike Manoa Valley - it was great! - mahalo) The hotel is decorated in a very attractive retro-Miami kind of colour scheme. There was complimentary beverages in the lobby at all times (coffee, cucumber water, lemonade, iced tea). The hotel has a concierge to help with booking tours, rental cars etc. The hotel does have a small pool and lounging area - if you plan on spending a lot of time poolside, it might not meet your needs. I can swim in a pool at home, I went to Hawaii to swim in the ocean. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach (depending how fast you walk and what end of the beach you want to go to). I did find walking around Waikiki at night that the streets near the Coconut seem quieter and safer than some other areas. The next time I visit Waikiki I definitely would stay at the Coconut again.

Great employees. Average hotel

Posted 09-Jul-2014
Pros: The employees were exceptional. The cold drinks in lobby and coffee were very nice.
Cons: gym equipment, drainage in tub, pool atmosphere, elevator is scary
Location: good location, enjoyed walking along the canal. Not far to walk to beach or the mall. We love to walk so no problem.
We enjoyed our stay but we had a few issues. The room was on the 6th floor facing the mountains and it was extremely noisy. We closed the sliding door at night and the air conditioner helped drown out the street noise so we could sleep. The gym was unavailable for 2 days because they emptied it to use for a meeting !!!! The gym had very few weights, only up to 25lbs and only 3 cardio machines. The pool is small with no atmosphere. The fridge stopped working the last day even though they changed it, the 2nd fridge didn't work properly either. Lucky our food didn't spoil. Shower didn't drain well so water pooled at feet. We got a good price on expedia as we booked a package but otherwise it would be overpriced.

Affordable Option

Posted 20-Jun-2014
Pros: Good pillows and bed. Easy car access to outside Waikiki.
Cons: Little more cleanliness and carpeting needs replacement.
First room not acceptable, but second was better. Comfortable beds, but overall condition is of an average hotel.
