Can't go wrong at this hotel

Fabulous staff! Bathroom wasn't cleaned. If that's my only gripe then it's doing superbly. So glad we had a mountain view

Third time is a charm!

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: It was a nice change to view the canal. I was on the 8th floor and had an uninterrupted view, only hotels to my left and right.
Location: Outstanding! Two blocks to trolley/bus pickup, four to central Waikiki, six to Fort DeRussy beach and the canal walk is right across the road.
On previous visits to Hawaii I've stayed right in Waikiki and also near the Hilton Village. This hotel is the best by far! The staff are welcoming and helpful, you get a free continental breakfast and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. The is quite a bit of noise from the traffic, but you do get used to it. Also, never had to wait for a lift, unlike some of the busier hotels. Very handy when you're laden with shopping bags! Would definitely stay here again, it's a real gem!

Close to the beach

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Pros: Small and clean hotel
Cons: Gym
Location: The hotel is a short walk from the beach and broadwalk, with a variety of restaurants and stores to choose from.
Clean, bright hotel close to the beach and other amenities. The friendly staff were helpful with every enquiry and gave good advice as to how we might want to achieve the best of the holiday, in the time we were there.

Photos on hotel website are deceptive.

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: Lobby and staff. Decent, walkable location
Cons: Needs a face lift-new carpet, clean bathrooms. Give room coffee each day vs. charge after day 1. That just seems cheap.
Location: Lots to do that is close by. Walk to beach, restaurants, and shops.
The lobby of the hotel is nice but beyond that, this hotel is tired. The elevator lights don't work and it makes some disturbing noises. Carpet in the hallway is thread barren. The room that was considered "best view" literally faces directly into a run down apartment complex. The tub was dirty and the shower head is pointed at the wall with no ability to redirect it. The hotel provides 2 very small bottles of water on the first day and you have to pay each additional day. Same is true for the coffee pods. You get it on day one and have to pay for each additional day. This is the first time I have pulled up the hotel website while at the hotel to ensure that I had checked into the correct place. The website photos are of the hotel but close up's of items vs. a more global perspective of what you really get. Not impressed!

A friendly place to stay

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: I loved the contemporary decor and colours. The pool is small but nice for a dip to cool down. We appreciated the cold drinks on offer in the lobby.
Cons: We would have liked to have a fridge in our room
Location: We were able to walk down Lewers St to the beach and to the shops in the area. The buses stop 2 minutes away and go north and south of Waikiki
We had 3 nights here before returning home. The hotel is light and spacious on a corner opposite the canal. Our room was the smallest on the floor but was comfortable for the short time we were there.

Outstanding value

The Coconut is an outstanding hotel for the price. The best part is the staff. Friendly and efficient, they did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. I will certainly stay there again.
