“great place”
we have stayed at the Sunset several times, never a disappointment, always a pleasure :)
“Nice hotel !”
The service was great ! Rooms were mainitained & cleaned daily. The kitchen had all the necessary cookware for cooking ! My only complaint would be that the rooms did not have wireless. Had to sit on the desk to access the internet
“Dated and poor service”
We would not stay here again. The hotel is fairly dated and in need of upgrading. Our experience was made worse for several reasons. Firstly, after our 5 hour flight, our room was not ready for 3pm as advertised, on the first night someone came into room while we were sleeping as the hotel had allocated the room again. On the plus side, the hotel is conveniently located near to Waikiki beach. There are lots of hotels so we think we could do better next time.
“Good Value”
Room was great for what we paid. We traveled with 3 adults, a 13 and 8 year old and fit comfortably in a two double bed, one bedroom room with fold out sofa bed. Room had a nicely updated kitchen that helped keep the food bill down. Mattresses are wore out and need replaced though. Location to diamond head and beach Awesome!! Two small blocks from beach and a short bus trip to diamond head. We were going on a budget so for the money it met our needs perfectly. If going again I would save up and stay just west of the beach much nicer places on that side. After dark down by Waikiki beach I was not comfortable walking with my 8 year old to get back to our hotel room. A lot of homeless came out and people you just don't want your children around.
“Very nice, quiet, front desk very helpful in most cases”
Everything went well. There is a mandatory (all hotels) $10 daily fee for a bundle of stuff: daily newspapers, use of room telephones that one agrees to up front, use of Internet connections, DVD TV, etc., etc. We had a problem with the Internet connection. We called and went to Front Desk five times (five days) and got "we'll get back to you on that." They didn't/couldn't. But they agreed to give us a 50% reduction off the daily bundle, which we thought was fair. Other than that the Front Desk and cleaning crew were wonderful. The hotel's tour guide guy was amazing and set us up with three great tours on different days: (Pearl Harbor, a Luau, and dinner boat cruise at sunset) Nice condo, clean, enough space. My lady-friend guest is a whiz at computers. She took what she thought was the broken part (a blue cable) to the lobby. They gave her a new part. It worked. She is one determined gal. I would recommend the Aston Waikiki Sunset hotel/condo facility to anyone. A fair price for a good product. Expedia created a nice package for us at a money-saving price. The traffic in Honolulu/Waikiki is humongous at rush hour. Lotta time spent on tour buses, but I'm still glad we didn't have/use a car. All-in-all, great adventure/memories. Thank you, Expedia and Aston Waikiki Sunset. ;-)
“great value, great location, nicely renovated suite”
Don't be deceived by the slightly worn look of the lobby and hallways - the service and staff are excellent, our 29th floor suite was spotless and very nicely renovated. Included amenities are on par with other stays we have had in Waikiki - the pool, hospitality room with wifi, in-room internet, a convenience store on site, lobby security, and great views. We made good use of the full kitchen and enjoyed the extra space of an apartment v.s. a hotel room - very family friendly. Only two blocks away from the main street of Waikiki, this location is close to the beach, trolleys, city bus, restaurants and shopping without all the noise.
“Okay but could have been better”
Charged for parking, charged for internet, about 4 blocks from beach, no restaurant, tiny on-site shop with little to offer, had a pool and tennis court (but looked like so did everywhere else), slow elevators, would recommend getting a hotel that includes free parking, free wi-fi (was free in one little room off the pool area) and was closer to the beach, restaurants, shops, etc.
“1st visit to Hawaii”
This was my husband's and I first trip to Hawaii. With so many hotels to choose from, I decided on a condo so we weren't constanly eating out. We arrived late at night, and the staff was very friendly upon our arrival. We were on the 30th floor, directly across from the elevator. The condos come with a fully furnished kitchen as stated (dishes, eating utensils, coffee maker, dishwashing liquid, and even a rice cooker!) I would suggest that you pack some spices (ie: salt, pepper, mrs. dash, etc) if you plan on doing any cooking, because none is provided. It was a little mildew smelly upon first entering the room, but open the windows, or bring Febreeze as I did, and spray and you should be okay. There is a convience store on the 5th floor, an ABC store 1 block away, and a Food Pantry grocery store approx 4-5 blocks away. Location is great, the beach and buses/trolleys is 1block away, Starbucks is 2 blocks away, which is also where the Honolulu zoo is located. Everywhere is easily accessible from where the condos are located. Will definitely use again
“a great week at the Aston Sunset”
We could not complain about anything here. The staff were efficient and friendly. The beds perfect and a great view.
“Can recommend to a friend”
The views on the higher floors are great. Two bedroom with Diamond head and ocean view is really nice.
