“Suited Our Purpose”

The Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel was chosen by us because of its location (near the Zoo and beach) and price. The room although a little cosy suits the family that spends more time exploring the Waikiki sights rather than lounging around. The free breakfast was adequately continental but Dad needed to supplement it with a trip to Starbucks downstairs. Pool was very inviting, particularly to Miss 7 who took daily dips. The staff are very helpful and friendly, even reversing a mistaken movie order (twice!) and no request for info to we Australian Hawaii novices went unanswered. All up a great holiday venue for us.

Area recommendations

Waikiki was great with terrific sights (beach, Diamondhead, Zoo, Aquarium, street performers, family restaurants and shopping). Transport easy with cabs, the bus and trolleys. North Shore was also great but underdeveloped. I understand this is admirably how the locals want it kept but there's not even a coffee shop and the roads are very narrow and challenging to navigate for us left siders.

Snorkling on Waikiki is good when the waves are not pumping. $10 for 2 hrs Board hire at 6am is good

“Not Impressed with hotel condition”

The hotel is in a great location. It is in major need of renovations. There is an odor in the rooms. The room was dirty, run down and needed some tender loving care. The rooms are also very small! I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

“Very disappointed!!!”

Don't be fooled by location as we were! This hotel is dirty and needs remodeling badly. Outdated bathrooms, old furniture, sheets and towels old and smelled. In fact when we walked in the room it smelled like dirty socks. The pool area was a joke. I wouldn't walk on the concrete around the pool without shoes on, that's how bad it was. The staff was rude from the moment we checked in. We were extremely disappointed!!!

“Friends get together quick weekend”

Everything was great except I have two small complaints, one, the pillows were too firm and two there were fees for extra things, like a fee to print your boarding pass and then there was a minimum to use your credit card. There was the parking fee, fee for late checkout, fee if you lost your room key. For our rooms (two for our group), they accommodated us being on the same floor with an upgrade for one of the rooms. We liked their elevator system where you don't have to stop at every floor, just your own and elevators were quick. Beds were comfortable. We liked having the Tiki restaurant in the hotel, good food, good prices, good wait staff, good drinks. Definitely would stay here again and refer this hotel to family and friends. A little disappointed with the travel desks. If you weren't booking a service through them, they didn't seem to know where things were. Just handed you the local map.

“Good value!”

Very clean, nice and safe hotel. I would stay at this hotel again. The fresh fruit included in the breakfast was great! The live entertainers was a pleasant surprise to have during breakfast.

Area recommendations

Liked the international market becasue they had reasonably priced gifts.

Outdoors or beach

We had brought our tennis rackets hoping to play on public courts. We were surprise to find 2 sets of public courts within walking distance of our hotel! We never had to wait once for a court of the 5 days we played.
