Nice Hotel, nice setting.......

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: Good value, friendly staff, comfortable room, nice facilities and the spa facilities are good......
Cons: The food was pretty poor. As was the ordering system, which meant you had to cue again to get a drink...... Generally things are a bit tired.....
Location: Battlefield Bosworth....... Leicester
Although the hotel is slightly 'tired', it is a beautiful historic building set in some lovely grounds.

Needs an overhaul

Posted 14-Feb-2015
We have stayed here several times simply because it is close to my Dads house. The rooms are dated and the bathrooms definitely need an overhaul. The heating goes off around 11pm and doesn't come on until morning. The tv is very old and doesn't even have all of the free view channels. Limited choice of lager/ beer and it didn't taste nice at all. Parking is definitely a problem in the evening. We only ever stay for one night and can put up with it for that but wouldn't want to stay longer.

Only if you have to be in the area

Posted 16-Jan-2015
It is hard to understand how so little effort can be made on basic things like smiling staff, checking that rooms are properly cleaned etc. I got a "can't ignore it" price but next time they would have the give it away. Don't get me wrong, it's not ghastly. Just you wouldn't want to pay much for such a charmless experience. And I thought smoking was banned in all workplaces. Not in this hotel. Maybe that's the clue - no one considers it a place of work, not even the staff.

Timewarp

Pros: The staff & the outside/surrounding area. Nice walk into the town through the back of the car park.
Cons: Would need many $million investment and a miracle...
Look like Britannia Hotels think that a lick of paint counts as refurbishment to 50 year old room d├ęcor. Come on Britannia - CRT TV's, Corby Trouser press? Nowadays travellers want comfort and space - the desk wasn't big enough for a laptop with the enormous lamp on it, but the very poor internet made it pointless anyway. Shower not working, creaking from the above floor means you wake up whenever they do (05:30 in my case). Oh, and the further from the main reception/bar area you get, the stronger the smell of damp/cigarettes becomes.
