The Westin Alexandria's guestrooms feature the Westin Heavenly Bed. The Heavenly Bed consists of a custom-designed, foot-thick pillowtop mattress with all-white bedding; triple sheeting; down blanket, comforter (bedspread) and duvet; and five pillows (two goose down/feather, two hypo-allergenic, and a decorative "boudoir" neck roll pillow).

Flat-panel TVs come with premium cable channels, OnCommand video, and first-run movies; telephones have two lines and voice mail. Weekday newspapers are complimentary; wireless Internet access is available (surcharge).

Guestrooms also provide in-room safes, minibars, and hair dryers. Coffeemakers come with complimentary Starbucks coffee.

The Heavenly Bath consists of a dual showerhead with multiple spray options; curved shower rod for extra room, white-on-white shower curtain, and signature spa-style toiletries.

“Great Hotel if you are visiting the USPTO”

Hotel does charge extra for wireless Internet access - and my cell phone did not have great reception in the room for data. Overall the hotel has very nice and is extremely close to the USTPO. Also the Hotel is an easy walk from the DC metro King Street Station - which is an easy ride from Amtrak's Union Station.

“Do Not Love Dog Friendly Policy”

I had rated this hotel very highly on Trip Advisor based on a stay several months ago; however, now the hotel has a "dog friendly" policy which meant, for us unfortunately, a constantly barking dog in the room next door which despite a complaint to the front desk was not mitigated. I don't mind dogs, but do mind sleep-impossible noise at 8 am on a Saturday...

“Had a great experience”

The hotel was located in an area that was convenient for us and was beautiful. The staff was very polite and took care of our every need, the rooms were in great shape and had everything we needed for a great stay. We would definately recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations

Go to Old Town Alexandria, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, Fort Hunt Park and Mount Vernon.

“Great hotel”

The heat/AC didn't seem to work as well as I would have liked. The pillows were not comfortable. Those were the only 2 negatives. Everything else about the hotel and location was fabulous! Beautiful place!

“Westin Alexandria”

The fact that we had to pay for internet was ridiculous. Also, with the prices they charged for the valet parking, the valet service was very slow. I would not go back there due to this. Also, we were assigned to the 7th floor but when they realized we had a dog, we got reassigned to the 4th floor and to the back of the hotel. We got a great view of the alley. :(

“Enjoyable Stay”

It was a weekend getaway not very far from home. The hotel stay was enjoyable, the room was clean and staff was very nice. I thought parking would be a problem, but we were able to find parking nearby the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and Alexandria is a great place to visit in the fall.

“Very impressed”

The desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. The shuttle service was a big help, and the drivers were great. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Not Impressed with the parking situation”

If I flew into National Airport and took a taxi to this hotel, I wouldn't be so irritated. Since it's summer travel season and people drive everywhere, having to valet your car upon check-in and the mandatory price was outrageous. I also was not told about the fee upon check-in and there was no elevator in the garage that had access to the hotel (not fun in 90 degree weather in Alexandria in August). This country was built upon choice; being forced to valet was a huge irritation, especially with the after-the-fact charges. Unless I fly into National, I will never stay at this hotel again. The staff was nice enough to let me park my own car below in the garage, but the high parking price was nuts. The hotel room was very easy on the eyes and it sets the bar high for Westin Hotels. I'll probably stay at the Tyson's Corner Westin instead next time. It was nice that Old Town was only 10-15 minutes away via taxi and the taxi ride was very reasonable. It had a great location and a great view of the courthouse area from my room.

The King Street Metro Station isn't too far away. If I had more time, I would've capitalized on that.

Nightlife

Old Town Alexandria wasn't exactly the crowd I was looking for, but it's a good place for meeting up with buddies if you're looking to just meet up. I had way more fun at Nick's Nightclub (country bar) down the road. If I had enough time, I would've taken the Metro towards Wilson Blvd or into DC to Capitol Hill or Adams Morgan (even though I've outgrown it).

“Good in order to stay a night”

Rooms are good and hotel is suffisent if you don't spend the day in a hotel.

Area recommendations

I will recommend the old part of the city to the travellers because the renovated buildingd are in conformity with the historical environment.
