“Not a bad place to stay when visiting DC”

Overall we were pleased with our stay. It is close enough to DC to travel back and forth. It is near the interstae, so plan accordingly with rush hour traffic. Pleased with the staff...very polite. Difference between standard and deluxe is they add a small fridge and microwave oven for $5 per day.

“No Consideration”

We asked for a 1st floor rm, and got a 2nd floor. I am 72 yrs old, and there is no elevator. The room is extremely small. Lots of people sitting outside their rooms smoking. We asked for more pillows, and they never arrived. The complaint that the phone did not work went unanswered for days.

“Very Very Satisfied”

We were very satisfied with the hotel, the staff were phenomenal. We have no complaints! We would stay again without any reservation. They went over and above when answering questions we had. Would highly recommend and would gladly stay there again!

Area recommendations
We did not actually spend much time in the area as we were there to vacation in DC, but I will say this. There was an italian/sandwich place across the street that delivered that was GREAT! It was a quiet area!
Getting around
It is worth getting a taxi from the hotel to the Metro at Huntington. Avg $10 per fare, and it saves on walking as the hotel is not that close. Also realize that any and all maps you get ARE NOT TO SCALE! HA! Use the Metro. We got Speed Passes from the Metro website two weeks prior and it was great! Also realize that you will have to add around 60 to 75 cents per metro pass if you ride during rush hour. But that's no big deal. Getting around was really easy! It was great staying in Alexandra near the metro. Quiet when you are tired - but if you are walking alot during the day in DC . . . get a cab! It's worth it!

“Very good price but depressing room and much further away from old town then I expected.”

I booked this hotel because it indicated that it was convenient to Washington, DC and very close to Old Town, Alexandria, plus, they accepted pets. This is all correct, but it's not within walking distance of anything and that was a disappointment. The staff at the hotel were nice, but I found the room depressing. Dark, old and with an awful shower that had a very slippery tub. The shampoo was not very good and the hand soap burned my eyes, we had to go out to buy a decent bar of soap and shampoo. And this was the deluxe room.

Area recommendations
I would recommend staying in Old Town, Virginia. Beautiful town, with lots of charming restaurants, a great waterfront with tour boats and restaurants by the water, Very enjoyable place to visit and stay, plus, if you don't want to drive the Metro will leave you in DC in about 15 minutes.

“Not the Ritz”

This is an older property. Very convenient to Alexandria and DC. Staff was excellent and it was well worth the price.

“Not what I paid for, and I didn't pay much.”

Bad: -Did not get the room I PAID for. Crappy double room on street-side main floor instead. -no amenities -the free internet connection was actually better on the next door hotel's connection -Loud as hell -Not a hotel, but a motel - meaning lots of extra outdoor noise and people yacking away outside your door. -the road leading to DC is hella packed. good: speachless
