“Nice water view”

I had stayed at Hilton Alexandria Mark Center the day before I checked in to Crown Plaza. Surprisingly, the Crown has more updated showers, TV, etc. relative to Hilton. The water view was great. The walk along the shore right behind the hotel was very peaceful ! A very nice neighborhood. Downside: I had to drag my luggage in the snow all the way from King Street, since the hotel staff told me over the phone that there was no shuttle from King but in fact they did.

“Very comfortable”

I got this reservation through Expedia's deep discount program, I was very surprised when I found out I was staying at a Crowne Plaza. It wasn't convenient to the Metro, but otherwise, it is in a good location, near shopping, and has an airport shuttle. They were quick to greet me at the counter, fast to get me checked in and up to my room. The room was mostly typical, but there were many touches like convenient outlets, a fridge, and rollout writing table at the desk that are very nice for business travelers. I ordered room service for dinner, and the food was great, and the bill was not excessive. Finally, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and I got some great rest while I was there.

“Not bad for the price.. very rude front desk”

I was impressed with the hotel due to low cost. there is not much around the hotel no shops or restraunts. It is a 8 block walk to King Street since the hotel states old town I though it would be in old town not 8 blocks away. Not close to the metro but does offer shuttle to airport were there is a metro stop. For the cost it was worth it and I would have recommended this hotel to others until I checked out and the front desk person ( wish I had gotten her name) was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. usually I will rite of bad behavior to someone having a bad day but this woman was over the top. Went so far as to SNATCH papers out of my hand. Because of this woman I will recommend NOT to use this hotel ever.

The town of old town was awesome.. Everyone was very kind and happy. Just the kind of place you wanted to be. Had easy access to get to DC on the metro. Everything you could want was on King St. shops and restraunts

Getting around

Getting to and around DC use the Metro. It is a little intimidating at first if you are not familiar with public transportation Which I am not. It was very easy to figure our. The metro itself is clean and safe. I enjoyed getting around using the metro. Before I got there I was afraid I would not be able to figure it out. Or that it would be unsafe.

“curtains didn't close”

While a decent hotel in most things, we were surprised that the curtains did not close. There were translucent thin drapes, and heavier curtains which were not large enough to cover the windows of our room. Thus, the sun poured into the room early in the morning and woke us up. I brought this to the attention of the staff late at night when we arrived, but they said the housekeeping staff had gone, and nobody could do anything. They said all the rooms would have the same problem.

“Good service”

The evening I checked in there was a power cut so things were a bit slow, but the staff were helpful. There was an emergency generator and the problem was soon fixed. I felt welcome and well treated.

“Long way to old town”

Front desk service was marginal,long waiit at check in and lack of genuine warmth. Opt for water view. Long walk to fun stuff in the bitter cold.

“My favorite DC area hotel”

I have been with this property through name changes and the recent overhaul of the property. Service has alwasy been tops. Shuttles run on time. The renovated rooms are lovely - definitely a big improvement. The neighborhood offers good restaurant choices within a few blocks as well as the river walk down to Old Town area for more to do and see.
