“Air vents not clean”
It isn't one building; it's 4 low-rise buildings with doors opening to the outside, so it's not very safe. There is nothing attractive nearby, no dining options, no recreation facilities, nothing. Worse of all, the maintenance on the property is not good. When I turned on the heating unit, it was clear that the air filters were dirty and a bunch of foul mold dust poured out and caused an allergic reaction in my sinuses. I literally got sick. During the daylight hours, there was work going on in the room next door - bang, bang, bang and all the while the worker was on his cell phone talking in Spanish to his girlfriend - I could understand everything. It was really disturbing and unprofessional. I've stayed in many, many hotels over the years and this one was by far the worst, I am sorry to say. I wish I could recommend it but that's just not possible. The staff were very nice and the service was decent but good staff cannot make up for a poorly maintained property. I learned an important lesson: Don't be afraid to spend a few more $$ for a hotel. Saving a few $$ isn't worth putting up with a bad experience.
“Mixed bag”
Had to wait a long time for shuttle at airport. Shuttle service to Metro station ran on schedule. So did shuttle to airport when we departed. Lower step on shuttle van was loose, which made it difficult to get out of vehicle. Room was comfortable and clean. Outside of building shows wear. Breakfast was adequate. Hotel staff were helpful. Nothing fancy but a good value overall for the price.
“WAS trip... next time i wiil choose again”
the only think to complain that the breakfast buffet serving in disposal dish..
“Shuttle Service great!”
Staff is very friendly, and the breakfast area very large. Shuttle service was exactly as advertised.
“Not Impressed”
On the night we arrived the front desk attendant was not friendly. He seemed to be more concerned with telling us all the rules that we must follow at the hotel and the resulting consequences for non-compliance. The room was clean enough, however the door knob didn't work well and the security locks did not provide a feeling of security. There were loud disturbances during the night from other guests I suspect. The first night there seemed to be several police cars visiting the property.
“Better than expected”
I stayed in this hotel for one night and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to my room. It was a nice size and it was clean. It looks as it has recently been refurbished with new bedding and carpet! The bathroom was clean, but old with a little bit of wallpaper coming off near the bottom behind the door. I was looking for one of the most inexpensive places I could find, since I only needed a place to stay before heading out from Reagan National Airport the next day. The shuttle was prompt and the driver was very helpful. The shuttle take guests to the metro for easy access into DC. It leaves every half hour on the half hour from ^am-ish to 10am. At 10am, it starts leaving every hour. I can't remember the time of the last shuttle of the day. Breakfast included cereal, eggs, pastries, apples, bananas, juices, and coffee. The hotel is two floors with no elevator to the second floor. I stayed on the first floor; my rental car was parked outside my room. I felt safe. This hotel is not in the heart of DC or even Crystal City, but it is convenient --unless you want to be within walking distance of anything.
“Ants in the room including the bed”
I usually like Best Westerns but this one isn't very good at all. The room was dingy, dark and dreary. It needed refurbishing completely. But worst of all were the ants in the room - all over the table, lights and even worse all over the bed. But the management didn't care and weren't interested in our complaint as they already had our money! The staff were unfriendly and had adopted the same attitude as the management i.e. everything was just too much effort and they didn't care either about the lack of cleanliness or comfort. I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend, or even an enemy! Zero rating out of ten. Don't stay here, there's plenty of other hotels in the vicinity.
“All around good value”
Compared to the other hotels in the DC area, our room was considerably bigger, the price was lower, parking was free, the breakfast is a decent breakfast as opposed to just a coffee and a pastry, and the service was great. The short drive down the 395 was much better than paying $25+ night for parking to be 2-3 metro stops from the attractions of DC. Not to mention that it felt much cleaner and safer than many other comparably priced hotels in DC.
“Best Western Pentagon”
Great value for money. The Continental breakfast is fabulous (I was expecting coffee & donuts). Courtesy transportation from Airport/Metro station every 30 min. The hotel is a two storey old style. Anyone walking the hallway can look in unless you have the drapes drawn. Pray for quiet neighbors! If you're bothered by a potential noisy one, you're in for a miserable night (thin walls?)! I had one of those nights (out of two).
