“Dowdy & in need of a refurb'”

This is a rather elegant hotel popular with it's clientele. However it rests on it's laurels due to the mediocre comfort of the rooms, and the unexciting menu. While our stay was agreeable, I think improvements can be made in the decor and levels of service.

Area recommendations

Check out the main shopping area just beyond Kaiserallee. Great places to eat drink and shop!

“Nice if you like outdated hotels. Not a 5 star property”

I stayed for two nights, the location is very good and the staff was welcoming and helpful. My first room was next to a practicing clarinet player and I was immediately offered another room. The rooms I saw and stayed in were clean but furniture, carpet, lighting and bathroom were very outdated and a bit shabby. Amenities in the room were average for a 3-4 star hotel. The gym was small, the equipment old and it was very hot in the room and no air conditioning - just a dusty fan. I would expect a 5 star hotel to have a pool, which it does not have. I would rate it as a 3-4 star hotel at best. Nice old building, but it does not provide any more comfort than a 3-4 star hotel.

“Super Experience: Highly Recommended”

I was a little nervous about the booking as the cost of the single room was very reasonable and included breakfast (almost unheard of in most European hotels I stay in). I need not have worried. The standard of service was excellent, from the helpful check in, assistance with finding restaurants and good natured bar service (check out the great cocktails). My (single) room was fairly small (but so was the cost) but clean and everything worked. Overall, this is not an ultra modern, "perfect" decor hotel but it has charater and style. As an added extra, the hotel runs a mini bus service to the Concert Hall. The Hall is probably only 10 minutes walk away but the service is great if its raining or you are tottering in heels. Shops, museums, everything you need is within easy walking distance. And the breakfast was great. Super stay.

“Comfortable Elegance”

From the moment we walked through the doors of this hotel, we knew we would have a wonderful stay in Baden-Baden. The hotel staff were kind, knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. We had a room that looked out over the park onto the Casino with a lovely small balcony. My husband and I agreed that this hotel has what we call "comfortable elegance". Although some of the room furnishings were a bit shabby, the spacious room, incredible bed linens and marble bathroom more then made up for it. The breakfast was outstanding, in fact it was so good that LOCALS come here for the breakfast buffet!

Visit the fussgangerzone (pedestrian zone) by the toutist information office or take the cable car to the top ot the zugspitze.

“Pleasant, rather "tired" hotel”

This is an old-fashioned hotel with very friendly and helpful staff but needing a bit of a touch-up. Carpets on the main staircase looked tired. My single room was a mistake, with a narrow hard single bed crammed next to a wall, and no charm although it was reasonably comfortably furnished.

Area recommendations

Baden-Baden is a small spa city with great charm. Almost everywhere is within walking distance of everywhere else. M

“Maybe 100 years ago”

I am sad to say that the hotel is resting very much on its former glories and now looks more like something from the "Shining" with long empty coridors. The rooms are very basic and certainly not 5 star. The saving grace is probably the central location and the staff who were all very helpful. It's certainly not cheap, I paid 10.00 euro for two cups of room service tea, plus 4.00 euro "tray charge" ! There are lots of other hotels to chose from in the centre so look around.

The best food and atmosphre by far is at Leo's, a great bar restauarant just behind the Steigenberger HOtel

“Hotel "Europäischer Hof" in BADEN-BADEN liegt direkt am Kurpark und Kurhaus.”

Das **** Hotel hatte kein klimatisiertes Restaurant und auch keine Klimaanlage in dem zugewiesenen Hotelzimmer.
