I arranged a four night break with my wife to celebrate her birthday.
Our experience was wonderful from arriving and being given two glasses of champagne as our room wasn't quite ready, to leaving and our luggage being kept in their left luggage room whilst we waited for our train after check out.
I had arranged flowers and chocolates to be in our room on arrival and they were there waiting for us.
We enjoyed a superb afternoon tea, a very tasty Sunday lunch and two sessions each in the wonderful health spa.
Everything was just right with the room. The bed superbly comfortable and all the little extra touches just made the whole experience just so memorable. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble and they all make you feel special.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is the best.

For luxury spa treatments in the heart of York The Grand is the discerning choice - Set across a network of spacious rooms …More
Good location 10 minutes from York centre but in a quieter location off the main road. Single room was well maintained but opposite the entrance to the breakfast room, so a little noisy in the morning. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Very good value for the price I paid and would definitely stay here again if a room for a similar price was available.
Stayed here while we enjoyed a weekend away in Harrogate. Our King Executive room was great value for money for Harrogate hotels, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Tea/coffee in room and a lovely big flat screen TV. Breakfast was excellent and the evening Neal we had was exceptional.
We gad a great weekend here and would definitely return.
Used hotel for one night saty whilst taking daughter back to university. Room was clean, comfortable and weel equipped. Hotel was of good standard and staff were attentive. Did not use the restaurant or other facilities in the evening but morning breakfast in the resturant was good. Would use again for a similar trip as there were no problems re access or parking which has been an issue with hotels we've used in the main city centre.
We stayed 2 nights and had a comfortable trip in a clean fresh room that looked like it had recently been renovated. Good size bathroom. We had booked a twin bedded room which was overlooked but they soon rectified it to our satisfaction. We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and it was quite enjoyable with lovely views of the river.
Had problems with a leak in the room, staff responded rapidly and gave us an upgrade to a new room. Reception staff very helpful and efficient. Didn't like queuing for breakfast especially as there were plenty of free tables. Nobody there to greet you on either morning so had to wait for someone to come. Did not seem enough staff to cope with the amount of guests.
My wife & I recently stayed at The Old Swan, just for 1 night for a family wedding. The Hotel dates from the 1700's & is a grand old hotel. It is bigger than I expected & is set in lovely grounds - ideal for wedding photo's.
The staff were friendly, courteous & efficient. Check - in is not normally until 2.00 pm, but we managed to get in earlier, which was good. We had drinks & bar snacks, which were nice, but we didn't have evening meal because we were at the wedding. Our room was large with a big bed and an excellent en-suite, all very clean & tidy with t.v., tea & coffee facilities & a trouser press.
We had full English breakfast the next morning that was excellent.
