The perfect place just to escape for a few days . Home from home and a warm welcome. What more could anyone want. Definitely will be staying again. Highly recommended
Such a lovely setting, a beautifully decorated, classic house, and a cosy room. Amanda hosted us and was more thoughtful and helpful than we could have ever asked for. Thank you so much!
Amanda was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival and throughout our stay. Marie was very welcoming and both accommodated our vegan dietary needs for breakfast and gave us oat milk for morning teas. The hospitality was superb and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The Rydale room was spacious, warm, and superbly clean throughout - no sight of mould or limescale in the ensuite, which cannot be said of most chain hotels. Our vegan full English breakfast was lovely and the right portion to get us started for hikes in the Moors and the nearby quaint Thirsk town centre. We enjoyed our stay at The Poplars and would highly recommend to others.
Fantastic stay here, lovely little cottage, massive bed, kitchen well-equipped. Lovely donkeys outside my window! Massive thanks to Amanda & Marie - first rate service
Just outside of Thirsk in a nice quiet area. Local pub in walking distance with a Tesco and Aldi just 3 minutes drive.
Thirsk itself has a choice of food styles but book early.
The cottage had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. Will defiantly stay again.
A very warm welcome from Amanda who was amazing throughout the stay.she explained where local highlights were and made us feel so welcome. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The room was decorated beautifully and was spotless. Breakfasts were extremely nice using local ingredients where possible. Overall excellent value for money and supporting a local business by staying here which appeals to me. If in the area again will definitely stay here.
I had a lovely stay in one of the cottages with my two children - i was originally booked into a room in the B&B but wow the cottage turned out to be a better bet with two young children! it was really well appointed, beautifully comfortable beds, thoughtful kitchen equipment and (very importantly) the TV was logged to Amazon etc for the kids! Amanda was very welcoming, and a great host.
Warm comfortable family room, tastefully appointed with good powerful shower. Staff very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was very good with local fresh produce
A truly amazing stay. Amanda is so welcoming and her breakfasts are delicious setting us up for the day perfectly.
We arrived on the night of Storm Arwen and Amanda did everything she could to make our arrival a pleasant on battling the winds herself
to assist with bags making sure we were safely settled.
Enjoyable stay in private cottage in quiet location. Bed was comfortable and cottage was very clean with good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Tesco and Lidl within a few minutes drive. Good location for exploring Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate and National Park hiking trail on road to Helmlsey. The latter is a beautiful market town with great cafes and shopping. The Poplars is highly recommended.
Just returned from an excellent stay at The Poplars. We stayed in Nidderdale which is a large room with a very comfortable bed. The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water and it was very convenient having our own outside door. We had a very warm welcome from Amanda with a much apreciated pot of tea. The whole place is exceptionally clean and tidy and we highly recommend you take the option of breakfast when stayuing here.
Made to feel very welcome upon arrival with tea and scones. Room excellent, clean and tidy comfortable bed and plenty of storage. Breakfast choice was good and thoroughly recommended.
We felt very comfortable and relaxed at this property, certainly would stay again.
Great accommodation and perfect place to base yourself for touring Yorkshire and beyond. Walking distance to Thirsk train station and 10 minutes from the M1 by car.
We stayed in Pip's Lodge which is well equipped, dog friendly and ideal for a family. The grounds of The Poplars are large and beautifully maintained.
Amanda and her family (and their new puppy) are consummate hosts and always ready with a recommendation on where to eat, drink or visit.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and hope to return again in the future. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Fantastic break relaxing in a very comfotable bed in a clean fresh room friendly helpful staff fantastic location lots of choice in pubs restaurants for evening meal
We were in Rose Cottage which was lovely as could park right at the door to bring cases in. It was very comfortable with all the things we could need. The owner was friendly and helped us out with a need later in the evening so we were grateful for that. Lovely and quiet with sheep in the field right next to us. Great stay.
Great stay in the self contained family unit. Plenty of space for 5 adults and a dog (which unusually there's no extra charge for). Loads of kitchen equipment. Clean (a few cobwebs above head height, but floors, units, furnishings and bedding all spotless. Great location with lovely cheap quality food pub across the road (c£9 for 2 large pizza).
Lovely friendly welcome. The room was light and airy and far bigger than expected. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Breakfast was great and the children even got special treatment! Would highly recommend
Incredible. Loved every second of my stay at the Poplars. Conveniently placed just over a mile outside of Thirsk, the host was fantastic, the room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfasts were sublime. I will definitely be returning.
Wonderful setting, lovely room, great breakfast, extremely helpful staff...
Simply the best!! Would love to stay there again, for even longer, if back in Scotland.
Great place and location. Nothing was to much trouble for Pat and Ben our host heart warming and friendly to everyone. Amazing breakfast something for everyone. Would stay again and would definitely recommend it. Two minutes from the train station only one stop to York even the people working at the train station couldn't have been more helpful.
