Nice hotel but very small room and little storage.

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Pros: Well organised with superb breakfast.Very good friendly staff.Spotlessly clean.
Cons: Room size-bit tricky this one.
Location: Good location and lots to do.
Lovely hotel spoilt by the very small room and no space for anything-you live out of your luggage.

Fabulous B&B

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything!
Location: 10 minutes walk to Peasone Park, bus station and open air theater. 2 minutes walk to local shop, pub and Thai, Italian Indian restaurants.
What a lovely B&B! Staff, room, breakfast all absolutely fabulous! The whole place was spotless, the breakfast was delicious, Leanne was friendly and welcoming, the room was comfortable and clean. The little touches were so welcome and made the whole stay feel really special. I will be going back again - soon!

Short stay

Posted 06-Aug-2014
Pros: Location in particular and clean and well run.
Cons: Larger room for a longer stay
Location: Lovely views and walks along the cliff and down the hill to the harbour on the other side. Open top bus tour useful to see the wider picture.
Very pleasant stay for 3nights. Perfect location with splendid views over the cliff top. Compact room ok for short stay but larger rooms available for longer stay. Breakfast choice very good and well presented. Would certainly go there again.

Sunny Scarborough

First time in Scarborough, travelled for a concert in the open air theatre. Chose to stay at The Helaina because of the fantastic reviews, it lived up to expectation, Kerry greeted us on arrival and could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was a joy, cooked to order and beautifully presented. Wonderful place to stay!

Dan deserves 5 stars

Posted 28-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Dan was great and made the first two days of our stay and he deserves a 5 rating. The hotel was very clean, with nice rooms and within easy walking distance to the centre and beaches. Some points for improvement: 1. The rooms were quite warm due to the weather and we had to have the windows fully open and then we could not sleep for the noise of the local seagulls. 2. The two ladies who served us for breakfast on the Thursday and Friday were quite officious and we felt they did not want us there. We would recommend the hotel and go back again.

Ideal for our one night stay.

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: Spotlessly clean, friendly staff and good quality cooked food. Nice little touches.
Cons: Stairs are quite a climb and no lift so not so good for people with mobility problems. Parking a little restricted.
Location: Overlooking the North harbour but South beach over the headland and lovely beaches.
This is a fabulous B&B, so clean and with friendly staff. We thoroughly recommend it. I booked 2 rooms, one for my husband and I and one for my sister and husband. We were facing the front and my sister's room was facing the back. The only thing was my brother-in-law is 79 and has had 2 previous heart attacks and we were not prepared for the walk up so many flights of stairs and there is no lift, so if you have difficulty with stairs or mobility problems then I suggest you check with The Helaina before booking. Our room was quite small but very adequate for our needs for our one night stay. There was a welcome selection of tea and coffee, biscuits and chocolates. The weather was very warm but there is an added touch, The Helaina supplied a fan which is in the wardrobe. The bed was very comfortable indeed and the bedding is of superior quality with plenty of comfortable pillows. The bathroom was very clean and spotless with contemporary design. The towels were lovely and soft and they supplied bath robes, flannels, shower gel and hand soap. The breakfast was superb. There was a wide choice which was of very good quality. The staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They work so hard! I was very impressed with the lounge area with an array of information, a well stocked book library and a honesty bar (drinks/snacks based on trust). Secure Wi-fi internet is available. The decor was very inviting and the fairy lights added an extra touch.
