“Excellent stay in york”

More than I would normally spend on a hotel, but the overal experience was excellent

Everything about the hotel was fantastic. The room was. Better than the photos, the staff couldn't do enough for you. A friendly and warm atmosphere. Great location. We will definately be booking and staying there again

“nice hotel”

Great location, we could walk to the York Minster. Loved the breakfast. Only downside was all the stairs - not suitable for people with mobility issues unless there is a disabled suite on ground floor. We had to climb 69 steps from car to room. Staff was very nice and free computer with internet was a bonus. Would definately go back.

This hotel is an excellent location as it is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre. The staff are very heplful and friendly. The hotel is well kept and the food is fantastic. They also hold weddings here and they give the most first class service for these functions.

The total expeience was excellent from start to finish. Previously I have always stayed in moden "chain style" hotels thinking I was happier knowing what to expect. Now I am so pleased I opted for a change. I really appreciated the personal attention to our care and comfort, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they seemed to take as much pride in their workplace as if they owned it. Thank you all for making our short break so enjoyable.

“Great hotel for a weekend stay.”

One word of warning before I comment. The car park in the hotel is quite small so if you find it's full, there is a street nearby you could try. The hotel has a horse racing theme throughout the corridors with lots of horsey things on the walls. There is a lovely library room on the first floor used for weddings. Lovely decor. the rooms are not huge but comfortable and the towels very soft. Make sure you book your stay with breakfast included. It's fabulous. A choice of continental or full Yorkshire which is very tasty. Eggs bacon sausage tomato and black pudding. Yummmm. There is also plenty of coffee and tea and toast. And you can finish with juices and Pain du chocolat. A must have The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Cathedral and a further 5 minutes from the town centre. Make sure you visit York castle museum and the Viking Yarvic centre AND Bettys tea rooms for that taste of luxury from bygone days.

An excellent stay in a great city. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room a good size and very comfortable. Hotel in great location just a few minutes walk from the city centre.
