A really warm welcome to the property, I was contacted by text to say my room was ready and was booked in quite quickly. The breakfast was noted and booked at check in, making things smooth in the morning, especially as I had an early train to catch. The room is decorated with a traditional style, was clean and comfortable. It is about a ten minute walk from the city walls, is in a quiet residential area and so good nights’ sleep!

Had a great stay. Breakfast was nice and ready for us to sit down at the allocated time. Only thing we would mention was the small shower gel/ body wash packets that were provided weren’t the best or enough for two days. Other than that, everything else was perfect.

Would highly recommend staying here, extremely pleasant hosts, excellent vegetarian breakfast option, clean and cosy rooms. Perfect walkable distance to city centre. Will definitely be staying here again.

Lovely comfy beds, lots of super hot water for showers and a bath. Breakfast was ok, hot and the staff were lovely. Only downside was the pre-ordering-suprised with this that you ran out of apple juice. Easy assess to York centre and train station, would stay again. Thanks.

Jason, the owner, was delightful and very helpful, with prompt responses to the couple of queries I made. Like others we found the heating times a bit arbitary with heating coming on at the same time, each day, regardless of the weather outside. And the shower was very tricky to use, despite the instructions. But overall an excellent experience with the added bonus of splendid full English breakfasts.

Welcoming and tidy rooms. We were met by presumably one of the owners but he didn't give his name. Lead us into the breakfast room and took down my name to confirm the booking & we were given a key for entry. The room was tidy enough although the bed and 1 pillow each side was lumpy. The shower only ran hot for 1 minute, after that it was freezing cold, and the shower screen didn't fit properly. The breakfast was very tasty though. Things to change: proper introduction would be nice, so we knew who to go to if there were any issues (instead of a notice on "reception" to call a number). Hot water in the shower . Fix the showe screen.

This place is walking distance to the city centre. Room was clean and breakfast was amazing! Friendly staff. We were able to park next to the hotel by purchasing parking permit from hotel staff.

Disappointing
3 night stay with a friend for my 70th birthday. Very disappointed; the room (6) wasn't big enough to be a twin, so cramped, beds so uncomfortable, we hardly slept. Very cold as single glazed, full of condensation - bedding and towels felt damp. Very thin/basic duvets/pillows. No service in our rooms for the whole of our stay. Breakfast so basic and sparse, the worst I have ever had anywhere, bacon and sausage cheap and nasty, obviously microwaved and rock hard and no cereals/yoghurt to be seen or offered. Dining room so basic and uninviting, certainly nothing like the pictures. First morning we arrived for our breakfast 'sitting,' our breakfast was already on the table! All in all, this establishment needs a refurb and some warm/welcoming touches, the Hotel Inspector would have a field day! The only saving grace was that the Crescent is within walking distance of the city centre and parking is in the street at £5 per night which is good for York.

Shopping & Christmas Market Stop Over - Dec 2023.
A straight forward, proper Guest house. It was warm, welcoming and importantly clean. The ground floor room was spacious and the noise from the road close-by was reduced by triple glazing. Quieter in the evening, the room was just what we needed for a one-night, stop over. My one minor issue would be the Emergency Exit sign above the door. I appreciate they are needed as part of Fire Safety but did it have to be so bright? The following morning a warm, freshly cooked breakfast was served. Slots are chosen when booking-in due to a smaller than average breakfast area. In short, a more economical option than some local accommodation but a pleasant visit; we would certainly revisit if we're in York.again.

Reception was virtually none existant, room was only large enough for single bed, there was a very small table appx 18"x 18",for tea/coffeem/kettle etc, a small wardrobe of which the doors did not close properly, bathroom was very compact and needed bringing into 21st century, two people could hardly get past each other with the amount of space around the bed, very tired decoration, will defo not be booking here again, partly my own fault for not researching more, as have been to York many times, and stayed in various accommodation with no issues, On the plus side, the breakfast was very good, and the ladies serving were pleasant and helpful
