Great location

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: Its location. Breakfast.
Cons: They could drop the extra charge for credit/debit card.
Location: Clifftop hotel. Handy for beach, Peasholm Park, Castle
Hotel couldn't be better placed, close to beach, town centre and all attractions. Pleasant bar and lounge with good views and cheap drinks till 6pm. Breakfast very good-fine choice and efficient staff. Booked for three nights but extended to four.

Pros: bits
Cons: the décor is very 60s looking
Location: Its on top of a hill which is a bit of a climb back up from the beach...
Staff was helpful, Food was nice, Décor needs some attention lots of cracks and damp patches all over the place. FLOOR BOARDS CREEK AND SOME ARE BROKEN UNDER FOOT...walls are thin you can hear next room talking, The car park you HAVE to book a place which should be first come first serve. I had to leave mine on the road outside which was an extra £6.00 and it got bumped into but the staff didn't seem at all bothered which Pi ed me right off,

Good room this time

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Cons: All rooms improved to the same standard. Wifi in all rooms.
Have stayed at the Clifton before and we weren't impressed, but decided to give it another chance. So glad we did. We stayed in one of the newly 'done-up' rooms and it was lovely. Everything nice and clean.

Never again.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: nothing at all.
Cons: A telephone to ring me with to tell me they had cancelled.
Location: Close to the beach.

Lovely stay

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: Great seaviews and polite staff
Had a lovely stay at this hotel, we had an amazing seaview and quite a large spacious bedroom. There was a nice big bath in the room too. I would stop here again.

Tired hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2014
Pros: The breakfast was ok
Cons: Redecoration and modern fittings in all parts of the hotel.
Location: The location was good, central to both bays in scarborough, plenty to do in north and south bays.
The Clifton hotel needs a modern makeover. Cleanliness was an issue especially in the bathroom. A box near the entrance to the dining room for tips for the staff seemed like begging.

Clifton hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2014
Pros: The bedroom very good size, very clean bedding and bathroom. Breakfast very good choice. Happy hour price drinks. Reception staff helpful.
Cons: could not open windows apart from one which was open a little. But there was a fan which really helped when left on as it was hot on a night..
Location: in north bay but you could walk over to town centre about 20 minutes and get bus round the coast road if needed.
Stayed two nights would stay again..Hotel old but overall important things were good. clean bedding bathroom etc. Good choice for breakfast. Went to two shows one at spa (summer spectacular) and one at Stephen joseph theatre (Cox and Box) both very different but very good especially at st. jos. theatre would highly recommend. Had the best fish and chips at restaurant adjoining the spa. Lovely surroundings looking over the sea and would definitely recommend it and would love to go again next time we are in scarborough. Also worth booking reserved parking i know pay extra bit certainly takes the pain out of looking for car parking space.

Beautiful building in somewhat unique location

Posted 18-May-2014
Pros: All was well, Plus it had a very nice look, well painted.
Cons: More TV channels.
We were most pleasantly surprised to find that our bargain break had nothing to be disappointed in. The room was very good, the beds and bedding comfortable and all good to the eye. We understand that some modernising had been taking place, and did not know if our section had been modernised or not. But it was certainly updated enough to make the stay pleasant., the only thing lacking was more channels on the tv. for my husband. The food was very good, and the light menu in the bar very reasonable. Staff helpful and very hardworking. We will definitely be returning, and trying to get the same room. A very good bargain indeed. Loved our stay. An added bonus was a large party from Baptist Churches, making for a friendly and Godly company.

Disappointing stay

Posted 01-May-2014
Pros: Stands nice. Staff all helpful and polite.
Cons: A really good deep clean of everywhere would be a start.
Location: Stands proud looking out to sea.
Despite the efforts of the staff, this hotel needs big money spending on it. The bedroom furniture seemed to be quite new but why not paint the room first? Big damp patches on the ceiling, wallpaper peeling off and no hot water for our showers. Very disappointing stay and we'll jot be rushing back.
