needs a good makeover

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Room clean enough but the hotel is run down and badly needing a facelift. No fresh towels and room only cleaned once on our 3 night stay. On the plus side breakfast was good.

Good Location.

Posted 23-Jul-2014
Pros: Overlooking the North Bay.
Cons: Programme of refurbishing to be complete.
Location: Near by : Cricket ground ,Peasholm Park , Sea Life, Bowls.
Stayed in a refurbished room which was lovely, with seaview at the front of hotel. Not all rooms have been refurbished so fell lucky to get one ,as some of guests were very negative about their rooms.

Great location

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: Its location. Breakfast.
Cons: They could drop the extra charge for credit/debit card.
Location: Clifftop hotel. Handy for beach, Peasholm Park, Castle
Hotel couldn't be better placed, close to beach, town centre and all attractions. Pleasant bar and lounge with good views and cheap drinks till 6pm. Breakfast very good-fine choice and efficient staff. Booked for three nights but extended to four.

DATED

Posted 18-Jul-2014
Pros: bits
Cons: the décor is very 60s looking
Location: Its on top of a hill which is a bit of a climb back up from the beach...
Staff was helpful, Food was nice, Décor needs some attention lots of cracks and damp patches all over the place. FLOOR BOARDS CREEK AND SOME ARE BROKEN UNDER FOOT...walls are thin you can hear next room talking, The car park you HAVE to book a place which should be first come first serve. I had to leave mine on the road outside which was an extra £6.00 and it got bumped into but the staff didn't seem at all bothered which Pi ed me right off,

Good room this time

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Cons: All rooms improved to the same standard. Wifi in all rooms.
Have stayed at the Clifton before and we weren't impressed, but decided to give it another chance. So glad we did. We stayed in one of the newly 'done-up' rooms and it was lovely. Everything nice and clean.

Never again.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: nothing at all.
Cons: A telephone to ring me with to tell me they had cancelled.
Location: Close to the beach.
Turned up to find they had cancelled my booking all other hotels fully booked staff did not care told me my card was out of date (not true) and they had a lot of guests and had to allocate rooms.Had to return home not happy as it was part of 30th wedding anniversary treat.

Lovely stay

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: Great seaviews and polite staff
Had a lovely stay at this hotel, we had an amazing seaview and quite a large spacious bedroom. There was a nice big bath in the room too. I would stop here again.

Tired hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2014
Pros: The breakfast was ok
Cons: Redecoration and modern fittings in all parts of the hotel.
Location: The location was good, central to both bays in scarborough, plenty to do in north and south bays.
The Clifton hotel needs a modern makeover. Cleanliness was an issue especially in the bathroom. A box near the entrance to the dining room for tips for the staff seemed like begging.
