Good value if you get a deal

Posted 05-May-2015 on Hotels
I had decided to stay in Scarborough to coincide with the cycling Tour de Yorkshire. The hotel looked sited right above the finish line. I arrived, and the car park had 'reserved' signs for every space. I had been unaware that reserving spots was mandatory, and parking restrictions were in for the following day. I was recommended an alternative by the Reception staff, who were great throughout my stay. The room was chilly after walking through the baking corridor. Room was suitably fitted out. The North facing window was draughty and the curtains didn't cover the area right. Bed was OK. Breakfast next morning was a mish-mash. The English breakfast had what looked like dried mushrooms, and the sausages looked impenetrable. There was nowhere to safely leave luggage between check-out and leaving the town. There had been a space between the Reception Desk and the back room desk, but that had been filled already, so had to leave my bags in a corner of the lounge opposite. Overall considering the price I paid, it wasn't the worst value for money around. A few minor faults, a lick of paint and a few touches and it could be a good place. The room had good views, great location, too!

Don't use this hotel

Posted 01-May-2015 on Hotels
The first room we booked was rediculously small the bed was against 3 walls. If 1 person stood up the other had to sit down. If you wanted to watch tv you had to sit on the bed and the person next to the wall could not see anything. We had to up grade to get a bigger room that cost us £20 per night.

Mixed Bag

The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast good. Dinner was basic and the room we stayed in very tired and in need of a refurb. The position of the hotel was good but would have preferred not having to pay £6 a night to park!Having fancied a few peanuts with a drink in the bar, suprised to find that crisps & snacks were only available from an out of order vending machine.
