Used hotel for one night saty whilst taking daughter back to university. Room was clean, comfortable and weel equipped. Hotel was of good standard and staff were attentive. Did not use the restaurant or other facilities in the evening but morning breakfast in the resturant was good. Would use again for a similar trip as there were no problems re access or parking which has been an issue with hotels we've used in the main city centre.
Having booked a premier I was disappointed on arrival to be given a small basic room which was quite dark. I asked to change and was given a lovely room with two large wi does a and excellent lighting.
The bathroom was very unusual. The toilet was so high I could not reach the floor, the side of the bath was also high but the hand basin was disproportionately shirt! The room was very clean.
The food was excellent but watch the plates as they are so hot. Breakfast was good but it is difficult to ask for anything in the restaurant as so few of the staff appear to speak English.
The hotel is undoubtedly expensive but was lovely. I didn't use the spa but my sister in law did and recommended it. The staff were very attentive and very helpful. The hotel is very close to the railway station which was great and also convenient for the town centre and several nearby restaurants.

Our visit to York and our stay in Middlethorpe Hall and Spa, was to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday and my recent retirement. Our stay proved to be wonderfully relaxing and the ideal way celebrate both occasions. The hotel staff were excellent from the very start, nothing being too much trouble. They were always on hand to answer questions or offer advice about local history and places of interest.
Stayed in hotel while visiting with granddaughter in Middlesbrough. Somewhat lengthy drive each day but acceptable. Everything about hotel very nice. Food, cleanliness, front desk staff, especially breakfast service staff. Only issue was hangers in wardrobe (in room 124). Majority of them were bent and would not come off holder. Nearly impossible to hang trousers or shirt on hanger unless you can get it out.
