Pros: It's situation and history.
Cons: Certainle the wing i was in definatley needed up dating .
Location: Ideal location for walking, visiting Whitby and Scarbrough, lots of sporting facillities on site or very near by.
WARM AND FRIENDLY HOTEL HOWEVER THE DECOR IS DATED ! ALSO THE SHOWER HOWEVER NICE AND HOT, DID NEED SOME ATTENTION, RE SEALING AS IT WAS BLACKED IN PARTS ,AND THE SEAL ON SHOWER DOOR WAS HANGING OFF.

Wonderful location

Posted 10-Nov-2014
We stayed on 8 November as its my partners birthday this week. As we walked into reception a Christmas tree greeted us, wtoo early I'm afraid!! Bathroom door handle nearly dropping off and the bed wasn't very comfortable. But staff all very friendly and helpful, food also very nice.

Comfy but a bit off the beaten track

Posted 07-Oct-2014
Pros: The views
Cons: It was a bit old fashioned
Location: Within walking/driving distance of Robin Hood's Bay
The room had lovely views and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was a bit battered. The set menu for dinner was a bit too formal so we drove into Robin Hood's Bay. Breakfast was plentiful although a radio might have given a bit more atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff at breakfast (although the maƮtre d' was a little on the stern side perhaps because it was quite busy)

good views, dinner menu useless

Posted 06-Oct-2014
Pros: view
Cons: bar area and lounge, very DULL.
excellent views from bedroom and restaurant, only 4 choices on evening menue, after complaining, the receptionist said, never mind it changes every day! we only stayed the 1 night ?. we ate at a nearby pub better choice and cheaper.

Great Potential

Posted 19-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel has tremendous potential but decor and rooms need modernising. Location ideal ( if not misty/foggy ) and good base for Whitby and Scarborough. Helmsley is worth a visit and Thirsk Races is a marvellous day out. Breakfast good and 9 hole golf ok but pretty basic. Hotel is very dependent on its setting but lets itself down with the average standard of the rooms

Posted 16-Sep-2014
Pros: Friendly helpful staff and comfortable rooms.
From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Friendly informative staff were making sure we had a good stay. The room had terrific views along the coast, the facilities were excellent and out breakfast was marvellous.

lovely hotel with beautiful surrounds

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: nothing to change
Location: location is brilliant for walkers, beautiful countryside and lovely seaside.
one of the most relaxing breaks we have had in a long time - relaxing hotel, plenty of areas to chill out, friendly staff - very helpful, but one of the most beautiful surroundings we have seen in a very long time, we felt we had found a little hidden gem.
