lovely hotel with beautiful surrounds

Posted 12-Sep-2014
Pros: relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: nothing to change
Location: location is brilliant for walkers, beautiful countryside and lovely seaside.
one of the most relaxing breaks we have had in a long time - relaxing hotel, plenty of areas to chill out, friendly staff - very helpful, but one of the most beautiful surroundings we have seen in a very long time, we felt we had found a little hidden gem.

superb location and fabulous building.

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: the location, the character of the hotel, size of the room, cleanliness of the room - very high standard
Cons: Could do with an injection of opulence, the hotel is grand and should reflect this.
Location: You can walk til you drop. Golf, swimming, Scarborough is not too far away if you want a taste of a traditional seaside town.
The location is absolutely outstanding. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel bedrooms are having a refurbishment which if done to a high standard will only enhance the hotel even more. The size of the bedroom we had was huge with double aspect views. Breakfast was delicious and in a dining room overlooking the sea, perfect. The dining staff were superb, efficient, friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth another visit.

Ravenscar Country House Hotel

Posted 29-Jul-2014
Pros: Food and service among the best we have experienced in more than twenty years of International travel. Location is stunning. Easy to access.
Cons: Nothing. Keep the atmosphere unchanged.
Location: Stunning location overlooking Robin Hood's Bay and the North Sea. Walking paths and golf available. Croquet on the lawn. Grounds well-maintained.
Service at least equal to up-scale cruise lines. Food was uniformly better than the best cruise line food we have experienced (three multi-week trips). Very convenient to Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby. Views over the Bay and North Sea are stunning. Because the Hotel is a National Trust property, things look a little tatty. Don't go for a sparking facility; instead focus on food and service, both of which are well-provided by the Operator.

Lovely short break. Excellent service from the staff and food lived up to expectations.Large clean room well equiped with glorious views of the Bay. This his was our first visit to this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again when we are in the area.We did not use the Pool or other amenities so cannot comment on these.

Nice hotel with beautiful gardens and view.

Excellent time at hotel. Staff lovely. Food very good but not enough choice on evening menu. And a sur charge of £9 for steak and £2 for a small portion of chips is very very expensive. Booked to go again already but hope they read this and give more choice for then. It's the only thing that let's a very very good hotel down in my opinion .

Shame really that this hotel has let itself go a little bit but doesn't take away from the incredible location. Room was comfy and clean but this place could be a real stunner with a bit of effort.
