Surprisingly run down and not very clean. Well located and nice views and plenty of variety at breakfast. Needs updated and a decent cleaner.

Very Dissapointing

Posted 10-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
It is a shame but we really have no idea how this accommodation has an 'Outstanding' rating. The family room we had was musty and smelt damp. Even the bed clothes felt as if they were not dry. The only good thing was the breakfast which was great.

Good breakfast

There was no parking, but we were able to park in the street, quite near. Also we had a bath and would have preferred a shower. Breakfast was tasty and the service was quick.

Good base for the north shore

Posted 06-Sep-2014
Pros: Room size was good
Cons: Little bit dated but that was just the opinion of my fussy daughters!
Location: The park is nearby and the open air theatre too.
We stayed with our 2 girls and the room was a good size, with a sofa and TV area too.

Friendly

We stayed in a family room over looking the side of the hotel. You could see the sea from the side window which was nice. Room was huge with a double bed and metal bunk beds for the children. Nice touches to the room were having enough biscuits for the 4 of us, a cuddly toy on the bed for our children and a children's night light on the wall too. Breakfast in the morning was fab with a choice of cooked, cereals, fruit and toast. The hotel is located very close to Peasholm Park in a quiet location. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Excellent gluten free meal options available

Posted 24-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Very comfortable stay at this B&B, excellent service, very clean en suite room. Bathroom a good size with shower over bath. Bedroom smallish and decor a bit dated, but suited us just fine. Our room had great views and morning sunshine which was lovely. The included breakfast offered an excellent choice, including a GLUTEN FREE full English breakfast with homemade GF bread - no worries about contamination as a separate toaster is used, the hosts are very aware of what is necessary for coeliacs, one of them being coeliac also. The Norlands also offers an optional 3 course home-cooked evening meal for an extra, reasonable price - 3 choices are available for each course, and all can be prepared gluten free. We ate in every night of our stay and enjoyed all the meals very much (especially the lemon pudding!). We would definitely stay here again if we return to Scarborough.
