The host was warming and friendly. Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast included fresh fruit which was lovely, full English was cooked well. Value for money.

What an amazing guest house, the hosts were wonderful, welcoming and attentive and the room was fantastic, even Bilbo paid us a visit (house cat) will definitely be back and would highly recommend

Beautiful location and easy parking. We received a warm welcome and our host was very accommodating and kind. Breakfast was delicious in a lovely dining room overlooking the garden. Our room was inviting and comfortable with a large bathroom. Overall a nice stay in a beautiful and interesting area.

Lovely period B&B in a beautiful location. Fantastic suite, we staying in the Red Room, with a separate bathroom, vintage furnishings with an air of slightly faded grandeur. Enormous, clean and super comfy bed. The owners are working through a refurb and I hope they don’t do too much to this beautiful room but I agree the carpeted bathroom and 80’s shower and bathroom suite would benefit from a refurb to match the period settings, although all worked fine and were beautifully clean. Very friendly, hospitable hosts in Andy & Ryan, who made us feel very welcome and cooked a fantastic breakfast in the beautiful morning room overlooking the gardens. Only negatives is that we couldn’t get the WiFi code to work, nor the TV. We didn’t complain as we were only staying one night and didn’t need to use either - and I’m sure it would have been promptly attended to if we would have flagged it up. Overall a real gem and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming retreat in North Yorkshire.

What a lovely surprise this little town was. The location was lovely with a country cottage feel. The owners were lovely and clearly love their home. Some efforts to renovate the bedroom are needed to bring the standard up.

Very good room although did take a while for hot water took eek it’s way through those old pipes. Hot when it finally arrived. Great breakfast and comfortable room and bed. Great service and welcome from the guys.

Very shabby chic
At first glance on arrival it looked charming but on entering it was very shabby. The shower was mouldy and water stained and very uninviting. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming but the very shabby overall air of the place made the £115 price tag seem very expensive. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for that price. We felt a price tag of £70-75 would have been more appropriate. Having said that the breakfast was very good.

Set in a lovely peaceful location ideal for exploring north York moors with a large garden. Room was spacious well equipped, and clean. Tea and coffee were provided with a flask of fresh milk delivered everyday along with very tasty shortcake biscuits baked on site. Breakfast was delicious -with a range of breakfast options. The hosts Andy and Ryan made us feel welcome at all times. Would definitely come back if returning to area.

Andy & Ryan know hospitality!! I adored this place. Comfy, quiet and had the charm I expected from b&b. Everything was absolute perfection. If I’m in the area again this is the only place I’ll stay.

Stayed in the pink room which is a suite at Newburgh House on Saturday 19th February 2022 with my girlfriend and we loved our stay,especially as the Owners Andy and Ryan went out of their way to remove the feather bedding from our room and installed a feather free alternative.Massive bedroom and en-suite with Quality Harrogate shower gel.Bed was firm and room warm,great breakfast and superb wifi.Only slight niggle is little parking.Five star food in the pub a short drive of less than a mile away.Ive rebooked to stay for the next week and once youve stayed you get discounts and deals on subsequent stays.Thirsk is only 7 miles away plus Helmsley close by.

Lovely house in the country side with lots of period features, everything was clean and organised and plenty of thought was put in by the hosts in all aspects of our stay. Due to the storm in the middle of the night there was a power cut and woke up to candle lit hallways and breakfast round a log fire, very nice

Loved the house so full of character and our room was very cosy and comfortable . Impressed that our tray had a thermos of milk instead of those nasty plastic tiny milk capsules full of disgusting milk that you often find when you stay somewhere. Very helpful owners who advised us to book supper locally as we had left everything to the last minute and their suggestion was fantastic with delicious food . Huge breakfast perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back .

What a lovely house. It was huge. Thecrooms were bigger than average and were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom just needs updating but otherwise perfect.

A gem.
We were meet out on the road as we missed the turning. Our host couldn't have been more welcoming nor helpful. Lovely homemade cookie in the room on arrival, lots of choice for breakfast, they can provide a bbq pack for the gazebo in the pretty garden which is well stocked with veggies. There's a sitting room downstairs that your encouraged to use with a dozen hens on view in the their own garden. The local pubs have great food and the village of Coxwold is a picture postcard.

Great hotel in the countryside. Ryan and Andy are friendly and helpful hosts. Great breakfasts. Walking distance to local village pub. Ideal location for visiting the Yorkshire Moors and its many and varied offerings (in particular National Trust and English Heritage visits plus Castle Howard and RHS Harlow Carr)

Quaint place must be a nightmare keeping on top of the maintenance of the building and gardens . Very difficult for them in the last 18 months. Give them some love.

Location, comfort, breakfast, service ... all TOP quality. The only issue we had was with the condition of the bathroom, which will need to be addressed some time soon. The hosts were true professionals - so I suspect they already have plans in place to sort out the bathroom.

Small 'hôtel de charme' in North Yorkshire
We spent only one night but would have loved to stay longer. The village of Coxwold is extremely pretty and quiet. Newburgh House is a gem of a guest house on the outskirts of the village, with a splendid garden. We stayed in a very large, comfy room with three windows looking over the garden, a field, and the hens' enclosure respectively. Large en-suite bathroom. Lovely breakfast in room looking to the garden. The house is one of the prettiest I have ever stayed in and the decoration is warm and tasty. Lots of books on the shelves to pick from and a nice lounge to relax. Andy and Ryan have done a great job in creating this 'home from home'.
