Hotel very central

Posted 21-Sep-2014
Pros: Situated in a lovely part of the town looking down over North Bay.
Cons: Have double rooms in the front facing rooms which I would image would be bigger to allow for a decent sized bed.
Location: The location is by the castle looking over the North Bay and in a quiet part of the town, but a short hilly climb to town centre.
We stayed there for a total of 3 nights, and stayed in one of their en-suite rooms. The room was very small and then an en-suite bathroom had been put into the corner making it even smaller. This made it more suitable for a single room and not a double, the bed we had was only just about fit two people in and therefore we did not get much sleep. The cooked breakfast was more egg, tomato and beans and not much sausage and bacon. Stayed in better in Scarborough but unfortunately our usual one was full on the dates we required.

Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay at the Miricia, it was spotlessly clean, the Breakfast was cooked fresh to order every morning. The host was really friendly and sociable to all the guests The shared bathroom facilities were not a problem at all, We will be going back to the Miricia in the future

Nice guest house close to beach and town.

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Very friendly and made welcome. Within close proximity to the beach and town. The owners provide you with a parking permit so no worries about parking up and leaving the car during your stay however, parking close by can be difficult so be prepared if you have heavy luggage to carry.

Vanity great, attention to detail needed

Pros: The location was great as so near the castle -stunning views!
Cons: See review!
Our room was a seaview room, the windows didn't open at all. The wallpaper had been painted over but not a very good DIY job. The furniture was new but lacked character as it was all from a famous Swedish company (you know which one). The en-suite was a joke, it had been made from boxing off a corner of the bedroom but felt like a box in a box. The strip light had no cover and was too bright for the size of bathroom. The loo was literally next to the door and so close to the wall opposite it was crazy. The shower was so poor, it was really a light drizzle than a shower so no danger of flooding the floor if the shower curtain was outside of the shower tray. In the bedroom itself there wasn't any bedside tables or drawers, one side of the bed was so close to the ensuite wall it was difficult to manoeuvre round, glad we only stayed one night. The carpet on the stairwell was ripped and worn and there wasn't any lighting which wasn't great. At breakfast; although a reasonable choice of cereal some fresh fruit or yogurt would have been welcome. I still don't know if the milk was full-fat, semi-skimmed or skimmed. No choice in toast, it was just white toast, and bigger pots of tea wouldn't hurt either, one cup of tea each with breakfast isn't enough! The cooked breakfast was very bland and tasted like cheap produce. The dining room was bright and airy but without any soul, the owners didn't engage in any small talk and without any background music etc everyone ate in silence.

Great location

The landlady was very friendly and chatty. The location is great, facing the sea and right near the castle. The room was very small and although I booked a double room I suspect the bed was really a queen size. As it was a sweltering night and the bed was small it was difficult to sleep. The en suite was clean but very small. As the shower only had a curtain so not idea. Saying all that The breakfast was great and because of this and the fact the land lady was lovely we'd stay again

Basic and cheap hotel, wonderful views

Posted 16-Jul-2014
Pros: The location near the beaches and the Castle
Cons: Maybe some yoghurt at breakfast?
Location: Two beaches, the wonderful Scarborough castle, Scarborough shopping streets, South beach attractions and the Royal ( The Red Court)
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was small but beautiful and tidy. Lovely seaside just in front of the hotel! Modest but low-cost. Full English breakfast was certainly massive, but actually the only choice except for serials. But we liked, thank you!
