We arrived early but was allowed to check into room, this was ideal as we needed to get suited n booted for the York races!
No taxis were available when the owner (Irish friendly chap) rang for us, so he then kindly walked us to where we could get a black cab (near the Minster)!!
The room was great however it was a little noisy from traffic and rowdy folk walking home at 4am! Brekky was great.
This is a great hotel. We were greeted by Elaine who took us to our room which was spotless, decorated beautifully & very comfortable. She told us where everything was & gave us a guest information pack. This included a map, time tables & information leaflets. She took the time to tell us how to get into York by bus & by foot. The information pack included a leaflet which had some useful discount vouchers in. We used the ones for the river cruise (highly recommend the evening river cruise, nice way to relax after a day walking around York) which saved us £4. Breakfast the following morning was lovely. A full English (cooked to order) with toast, selection of cereals & fruit juice & not just a cup of coffee, a large caffetiere of coffee (or pot of tea if you prefer) which made me very happy. Would definately return to this hotel
This is a really nice boutique style hotel. Hotel room was lovely, very clean and spacious with all facilities including bath robes. Even though it was October the hotel was nice and warm.
Breakfast was good - there was a wide choice of cereals, fruit and pastries plus several hot options to choose from and staff were happy to offer tea and coffee refills.
We booked in for the weekend but only had breakfast there so didn't really see much of the staff but the waitress serving breakfast was friendly and efficient. The chap who booked us in was friendly and helpful about decent places to eat in the town.
The Grafton is about 10 minutes walk from the town centre, so handy for shops, restaurants, bars and the theatre.

The Grafton is one of Harrogate’s most elegant boutique hotels. Our chic townhouse setting is just a few minutes’ walk from …More
I would recommend these holiday apartments to all. We stayed a total of eleven days and the rooms were extremely generous, very central to town and all amenities. We have family near York and rather than stay with them this apartment gave us a little more independence than staying at the homes of our families.
I stayed in a double room which was very comfortable and spotless. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was excellent. I really liked the room on the ground floor which serves as a bar. You can have a glass of wine ....... and pay when you leave. Prices for drinks very reasonable.
