Good Location,

Posted 05-Oct-2014
Pros: Location, Tassimo coffee machine in room
Cons: Car parking, (cant be improved but does let it down a little,)
Location: 10 Mins walk into town
Check in was easy and quick, Room was a twin with loads of space, Good shower, Spotlessly clean, Gopod pub next door and all of what York center has to offer only 10 mins walk away. Only criticism would be that there was no milk in the room for the coffee ,machine and we only noticed when we arrived back in at 1am and there was nobody about to ask for it.

Great hotel within easy walk of the city.

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Pros: I like this hotel because of its individuality - it is different in style to the usual kind of hotel where all the rooms are similar to each other.
Location: Excellent location - walking distance to the city, easy parking, easy to find, pleasant outlook.
This was my second stay at Hotel Noir and I enjoyed it just as much as the first occasion. I like the individual style of the hotel, the facilities in the room were excellent and I like having a bathroom window! This is unusual since most hotels I have stayed in have internal bathrooms. The staff were efficient and friendly. It's nice to have a restaurant there for breakfast and dinner if required, as well as the small bar area overlooking the green. Great experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Hotel handy for city centre

Posted 28-Sep-2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Reduce breakfast price and light the stairs better?/
Location: Within walking distance of York city centre where there is plenty to do.
Only a brief overnight stay but we appreciated the location, helpful staff and room amenities. £9-00 for breakfast seemed expensive and the stairs were a bit steep for our old knees! Otherwise, very satisfied...

Black is Black

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: It is an "OK" hotel for visitors. Nothing outstanding, nothing except the bed problem, detracting.
Cons: Better bed mattresses! Doesn't serve breakfast.
Location: York has lots to do. A intermediate walk is necessary if you aren't using the transportation system.
Your is a great place to visit with many things to do. Hotel will meet your needs but won't be above average.

Very convenient to town centre

Posted 08-Sep-2014
We really enjoyed our stay in hotel noir. As the title states, it was only a ten minute walk from the centre of York and located in a very nice area. The staff were helpful, the room was clean and the minibar had a (limited) number of free drinks!

Not what we expected

Posted 28-Jul-2014
Pros: Location was ok.
Cons: Better detail on room sizes. Make sure they advise that compact means closet size!
Location: Close to City walls and York Minster area.
Our room felt like a closet - it was way too small for two people. It should have been a one person single bedroom. Not for two. There was some sort of cabbage smell. No room for our bags. Very steep steps to climb and no elevator. The second room we had booked was bigger and yet we were charged THE SAME RATE AS OUR small ROOM! The shower in the second room did not drain well and overflowed. Reception kept calling when the shower was used, stating it was flooding the room below. No apologies or compensation offered.

Ok for price

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Walking distance to city centre.
We paid £51 for a Monday evening which for York isn't bad. Its an ok hotel but the room we had in the courtyard had a fusty smell to it. We gave up on the car park and decided to park on the cul-de-sac outside the gate as we thought there was less chance of a prang. You get what you pay for and its adequate for one night.

Nice overnight stay

Posted 07-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was very nice and our room was lovely. There was a bit of construction (including scaffolding) on the following morning of our stay. They started earlier than we were awake and were right outside our window. Thank goodness our curtains were closed! There is supposed to be wifi throughout the hotel, but it never would work in our room. We only got it to work in the reception area. Small inconveniences though and we would stay here again.
