Overnight stay

Posted 06-Aug-2014
Pros: The management and staff seem to have got everything right
Cons: Just do more of the same
Location: Beside the A1 at the junction with A66. Barnard Castle and Richmond are nearby and worth a visit
Prime position at Scotch Corner but no disturbance from traffic. Plenty of free parking on site. The refurbishment is impressive as are the staff. Great attention to detail and the bar and restaurant prices are not inflated. A very pleasant experience and good value. I look forward to staying there again.

Good value for money

Posted 04-Aug-2014
Pros: Large rooms , good in room facilities.
Cons: Vacuuming under the bed would be cleaner and more hygienic. It was thick with dust and there was debris under the bed.
Really nice place to stay in all aspects. Friendly staff, nice Italian restaurant with delicious food.

Reasonably good hotel for the money/location

Posted 27-May-2014
Pros: The quality of the room decor fixtures and fittings etc is good for the price, and it seems like it has had a relatively recent refurb.
Cons: Better soundproofing on the windows at the front of the hotel would make a big difference.
Location: Handy for the A1, also Scotch Corner services are very nearby (just a quick stroll across the A1 roundabout) where there is M&S, Costa etc.
This hotel is well appointed and convenient for the A1, however sadly because it's so close, a lot of the rooms suffer from road noise. It is also only 2 floors so lots of the rooms are close to function areas which often have weddings etc. I suspect most if not all of the standard rooms are on the front which gets the road noise - the sound deadening in the glass could be better. The executive rooms at the back are probably much better. Breakfast was fine for a buffet style breakfast at a hotel of this size. The standard rooms are fairly small, not a lot of space for anything other than a bed, desk, wardrobe and bathroom.

Great value

Clean, comfortable, modern hotel (don't be put off by the older exterior), helpful staff, very good breakfast buffet. Recommended. Will stay here again.
