    “Highly Recommendl!”

This hotel is so central to everything we wanted to see in York. The actual hotel was extremely clean, and well serviced. It was also very quiet. Hotel staff were extremely helpful with our requests, including how to use public transport (buses) to go out of town to the Outlet Centre; how to walk to the train museum etc. Found the local museum (5 minutes walk away) absolutely amazing!! So very handy to numerous eateries; and LOTS of different places to walk in the evenings.

    Area recommendations
Staying in the city central is brilliant - so close to all sightseeing places, shops and places of interest. Public transport (buses and trains) are VERY close - so handy! Lots of lovely evening walks from the hotel!

    “Opposite the Tower”

Located in a central area opposite Cliffords Tower and ten minutes walk from the Minster, this is a well-located hotel from which to explore York. Friendly staff and reasonable rooms, though it doesn't have air conditioning which may make it rather warm in summer.

    “not dog friendly”

I booked this hotel because it was supposed to be dog friendly and we take our toy poodle with us for a few days every year. We usually go to a different hotel but this time we were also taking my 83year old Mother and Sister. The York Hilton was nearer the shops so more convenient for Mom. When we arrived we were allowed to take our well behaved dog into the bar so we all had a coffee. No problem.During the evening we all decided to go to the bar again and have some drinks. The Duty Manager flew at us and told us we couldn't go in and the dog could only go into our bedroom.Naturally we knew we couldn't go into the restaurant but a bar is different. Managerment are useless and the staff all seem to say different things .We are still waiting for a phonecall from the Operations Manager for an explanation of ''THE RULES''. The lady who cooked the eggs at breakfast was amazing and a real asset to the hotel.I hope they treat her better than us. Needless to say we won't be going there again and reverting to our usual hotel in York .

Everywhere is fantastic. Try looking for all the 17 cats dotted round the City.It took us 1hour 30 minutes to find them all.

    “Hilton York”

Perfect location close to the river and all major attractions. Good service and breakfast. Room clean and well presented with the only major drawback being the shower, which had an old shower fixing and very bad water pressure. I think it is reasonable to expect better from this class of hotel, which is a shame as otherwise it was very nice.

Don't miss the National Rail Museum. A great day out - and it's free.

    “Lovely”

Visited York for just 1 night (passing through really) and decided to stay at the Hilton for its location. The hotel was lovely, staff extremely friendly and location to central spots in York was spot on as you are in the hub. It can be a little noisy if you have a main street room however, so bear that in mind. Parking at the hotel was a breeze. They let us leave the car parked at the hotel even though we had checked out, ready to explore York further - which was brilliant. So even though the parking may seem a little expensive, when you total up the hours we parked it was worth every penny. Faults we had was the matress on the bed seemed a bit old and tired and wasnt as comfortable as I had expected. There is no air conditioning and the room got extremely hot - we could open the window but that didnt help really and the water pressure for the shower was a little disappointing. It is still a good hotel and I would look at staying here for future visits to York.

    Area recommendations
Area surrounding the hotel is right in the middle of York so easy walking distance to all main sights, shops, pubs etc.,
    Shopping
Shambles - just brill to wander round in. There is a small shop that sells flavoured vodkas etc., from vats which is excellent - must visit shop The La tasca was excellent for dinner and Pitcher Piano was great for lunch

    “Montana to York”

The Hilton in York was great! Very clean, very easy to get to, very friendly staff. Great breakfast bar and the staff made you feel real at home. The only issue I has was that we had to pay for parking our rental car in the hotel garage, but it was cheaper than parking it in the street. Great place to stay and I recommend it to anyone.

    Area recommendations
The hotel is centrally located so if you want to stroll the shops or go walk to the Minster, yet retire to a quiet place to rest this is the place. Cliford's tower is driectly opposite and with the ducks and new gosslings out and about it made the whole trip a fairy tale.
