Like the lactation, comfy bed. But overall was disappointed as book deluxe room to celebrate husband's birthday and expected to have luxury bathroom as stated on website and other extra touches like espresso coffee machine. Was told that only one of deluxe rooms looks like that and is already booked. So misleading information on websites. Should be stated there, as if I have known, I wouldn't booked it as I did it only for that deluxe bathroom

Lovely stay
Stayed to visit family nearby and location was also perfect for walking into the city. Staff were all friendly and helpful, breakfasts were delicious, can’t comment on evening dinner as chef’s day off the 2 nights we stayed but that wasn’t a problem for us. Would definitely choose Hedley House for future trips to visit family. Would say it is more of a guest house than a hotel but that is not a criticism in any way. Our only criticism would be the £14 per day parking charge to stay in the hotel’s small car park. We don’t object to a parking fee but feel this was a little steep.

Comfortable and clean
Comfortable and clean. Didn't eat there but lots of folk having breakfast as we left. Very nice place and handy for getting into the centre of York

Very conveniently located to shopping and historic sights. What was disappointing (and in some ways anxiety inducing) was management’s reluctance to keep the heating on as the temperature outside started dropping to freezing. When we did ask for ad-hoc heating, we were questioned about our plans for the day! After we called a couple of times , they just switched off the phone at reception - making it hard for us to check out early. Recommend sticking to known chains in the vicinity , viz Hampton etc, that were in fact cheaper.

Coast Friendly BNB
When we arrived our room wasn’t ready. Not an issue. The owner, Greg was kind to take our luggage upstairs while the ladies finished the cleaning. We had a drink at the bar. Although the room was on the top floor and the stairs were steep, we could travel them very nicely. The room was the Viking room#56. Cozy king, cozy room. The bathroom was modern and a good size. I used the gym which I was grateful for as running on cobblestones outside would have been precarious. The breakfasts were a proper English breakfast with many options. The staff were all friendly and courteous. Colleen was so nice and Greg’s dogs; Ty & Coal were a pleasure. Beautiful dogs. They don’t run about but we asked to pet them as we have a dog at home who we missed. The parking was a Kenya puzzle but all worked out well. Like I said, they were very accommodating. This BNB is a short distance to York and attractions as well as many restaurants and pubs. I would stay there again.

This was a good choice for a reasonable price range and in a quiet neighborhood. It’s a little bit of a walk to the sights and is on an unremarkable street, but the quiet was good, and it’s not too far from the train station. The rooms are big, but they really need updating. If you like having a kitchen, this will be an asset, but the furnishings, bed, lighting are a bit on the thrift store side and older. Staff were friendly and nice. Walls were thin, and we needed earplugs when the neighbors had the TV on.

We were very dissatisfied that they were doing work to the backyard, it was noises from 8am, loud. Walking to the hot tub was like going through a building site, wish we were made aware before booking. Very dated really rooms, looked nothing like photos. Breakfast was good. Service not bad ok

Great non chain hotel in quirky townhouses with parking and easy to walk to all the main attractions. You could walk along the river, the road or through the back of the museum gardens between the hotel and York town. Also easy access to The National Railway Museum via footbridge. Friendly staff. Ask for a lower floor room if you don’t like stairs.
