“Not Massively Impressed”
Reception was empty for more than 5 minutes. No body answer the bell. There's not enough parking space and you are highly likely to park off street overnight without any badge issued by the hotel, i.e. you are liable for the fine of parking there too long. Breakfast is nice. Top floor room is a bit cold even the heater is on all the time. 10 minutes walk from the Minster.
“nice hotel and very friendly staff”
great hotel and a great weekend
“Not Impressed”
Wanted something with character and this had none. The basement flat looked like something my parents tried with their basement in the 1950's. It was clean but that is all I can say good about it.
“wonderful stay. it snowed!”
Hotel is just a 5 minute walk to Bootham Bar, one entrance into the old city. Our triple room was at the top with a view of the Minster. Modern bathroom. Very hearty breakfast is served with the best local marmalade, and we had a great dinner there one night. Friendly service. As Californians, we were very excited when it snowed.
“Convenient York Location”
We enjoyed 2 nights in this hotel and found it very convenient for all we wanted to do it York: museums, "shopping", etc. Our first night, after a very long journey, we just stayed in and had dinner in the hotel dining room. It was excellent! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again next time we go to Yorkshire. J and J, Seattle, WA
“Great value”
Great value for a short break.
“A warm welcome”
It is several steps back from the busy streets, but still very easy to get around. The staff are very helpful and warm. Breakfast is good and they have free internet, jacuzzi, and the lounge is small but cosy. I got a room on the top floor which takes 3 sets of steps to reach, yet the view is excellent and compensates for the long trod.
“Amazing location”
A good value Hotel located a short walk from the centre of York. The standard of service and food were above expectations.
“Hedley House Hotel”
This hotel is in older buildings but is in good condition. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is approx a 15-20 min walk from the train station and 10-15 min walk to the old areas of York. This hotel is in a quiet area of town and is a good base to visit York. I would recommend this hotel for visitors to York.
“Excellent Hotel”
Hedley House Hotel was a wonderful place to stay in York. Great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner there one night and it was superb. Our room was a little small, but very comfortable.

York, England, United Kingdom: Once enclosed by ancient fortified walls, York offers a wealth of cultural and historical sites, including York Castle, the National Railway Museum, and York Minster, a Gothic cathedral in the city center. The Shambles is a pedestrian-friendly street dating back to mediaeval ages, where it housed butcher shops. Today the scene is less gruesome, with quaint boutiques and tea rooms lining the road.
