The Hotel had a free car park and was about 5 minutes walk into Harrogate. The entrance hall was large and quite magnificent and I felt abit like being on the set of a Miss Marples mystery !
Our room (234) was very clean and had recently been upgraded with a new en-suite and room furniture. It had tea making facilities with free LUXURY biscuits which were replenished daily.
We could not fault the room.
Ok,the floor boards squeaked and the central heating whirled but this all added to the character of the Hotel.
Breakfast was served in a massive victorian type room.
Food was served by staff at a servery, and you could have as much as you liked.
eg: Sausage (real butchers type) Bacon,Eggs,Beans,Mushrooms,Tomatoes,Potato Waffles,Black Pudding,Toast .... all came with a large pot of tea/coffee.
Other items included,Cereals,Fruit,Yoghurt,Jams,etc.
We had an excellent short stay at the Cairn Hotel and all the staff were courteous, polite and helpful.
Well Done to ALL.

"Nice hotel in good location and free car parking"
We stayed here on 11.01.2014 : We arrived about 12 and our room was ready for us which was a surprise: an underground car park for residents is great and saves you quite a bit money: there was a wedding on in the hotel and the main dining room looked superb decked out for the wedding: the wedding party added to the buzz of the hotel which I suppose would have been very quiet if it hadn't been hosting the wedding:
The bedroom was on the 4th floor and had double and single beds and was nice without being palatial: the bedroom was cold but I asked for a portable heater at reception and it was delivered quickly:
We went to have a look at the swimming pool and I'm afraid its in need of development and has no privacy as the glass wall from the lounge looks directly into it: nobody used it during our stay:
There's no Jacuzzi or Sauna, just the pool:
The evening meal was very nice and waitress very pleasant:
Breakfast was nice but sausages tasted like hot-dogs so we left them: I've had better breakfasts but it was adequate:
Overall the hotel is nice and cosy and in a good location with free parking and we would go again without hesitation although breakfasts at the Premier Inn (opposite) are better: but the hotel itself is far better than hotels from national companies (Travelodge etc..)
Thank you for a nice weekend

We stayed 3 nights, the room was spacious enough and had a seating area, Heating was controllable and effective.
Dining options were excellent (two dining rooms), and the meals we had there were well presented and served in good time.
The choice for 4 wheel driving experience and the fly fishing were available to us, but we were unable to participate because of prior commitments. I regret missing out.
The setting is excellent and it is worth looking round the grounds.
We will certainly revisit next time we are in England.
The Owner greeting us on our return in the afternoon, was a pleasing touch.
Stayed with extended family. Grand children loved every minute. The pool was lovely and safe. The bar at night was family friendly as was the restaurant whilst retaining a high level of decorum. The room was fantastic with views of the canal. The conservatory was a perfect place to enjoy the fabulous breakfast whilst watching the ducks and swans. We left the car at the hotel and walked along the tow path to Skipton (approx. 1 mile) It is a perfect place to stay whilst visiting the wonderful area around. We visiting the caves at White Scar and Mallam cove. Would definitely return!
