Disappointing ..

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff customer services
Location: Great location. near shops and beach..
On arrival we were allocated room on - 3rd floor , could smell dampness walking along corridor and on entering room was met with dark dinghy room having no windows, which made my wife have a panic attack ,, we were told the hotel had no more rooms available so had to book into a b&b for that night, on our return next morning we were given alternative room on 1st floor for our 2nd night stay which was comfortable, but our 2day break turned out more expensive having to pay for alternative accom on our 1st night stay ... When we booked this holiday when we put in our requirements it came up with " We recommend THIS room for your stay" with a picture of a room with windows , would never have booked if we had known there was a chance of having a room 3 floors below ground !!

Go to Travelodge across the road

First room twin not double as requested no shower. Second room better but dirty with cobwebs. Took 2 hours to complete check in and room change due to the number of people complaining or leaving after seeing their rooms. Spa bath did not work and tripped the electricity. Should be renamed because no way was it Grand. In need of complete refurbishment . Still enjoyed Scarborough and would return but not to The Grand.

NEVER AGAIN!!

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: A COMPLETE REFURBISHMENT
Location: apart from the parkimg fiasco lots to do
We have never in all the hotels we have stayed in been to one as bad as this one!! On arrival we had to wait a hour to book in,admittedly it was very busy but no apologies for having to wait! On receiving our room key we then had to find somewhere to park, over 2 hours of driving round to find somewhere which when we did eventually find a space it ended up costing us over £20.00 for 2 days!!! Upon entering our room we were to say the least gobsmacked! It was horrendous, wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in carpet, radiator broken and the veiw was a BRICK WALL 3foot away from the window! We then read a flier saying we can pay extra to have an upgrade, didnt want to spend anymore money out but couldnt bear to think of us staying in that room for 2 nights. Off we go to reception to ask for an upgrade, after queing for another half hour we are then told no upgrades available. That was after having to tell the recepionist why we didnt like our room, she didnt give 1 hoot that we were unhappy. We had to endure 2 nights in the room but I can honestly say we will never return to that hotel again. I did fill in the comment card but I know for a fact i will never hear anything,Im sure it will have been filed in the bin! I must point out that 2 couples wqalked out of the hotel refusing to stay because of the state of the rooms. I wanted to as well but we paid good money to get away, unbeknown to us it was going to be a horrible weekend! NEVER AGAIN WILL WE STAY THERE!!!!

Nice View, shame about the food.

Room smaller than expected, but bed extremely comfortable. Became fond of our view of the beach and Spa Theatre. If your a drinker, you will love happy hour 12 to 6. Entertainment poor, bingo rules. Food disgusting and restaurant chairs need replacing. We ate out after our first breakfast experience. Very convenient for exploring and for trains.

Was a bit wary of staying after seeing some poor reviews but have to say wasn't as bad it's made out to be. Yes decor could do with updating but room was clean. Do was bedding. Bed was really comfy with extra pillows . Overall not bad value for money.

Very nice victorian hotel

Posted 13-Aug-2014
Pros: The age and decor, also all the staff were helpful and friedly
Cons: advertise that some rooms might not have windows
Location: near the town centre and tram down to the beach
Hotel and staff are great, for a victorian hotel it is in excellent condition, the only downside was the room did not have any windows which we were not informed about, apart from that it was a nice stay

An old hotel in need of some TLC

Posted 04-Aug-2014
The location of the hotel is great but the hotel itself is very shabby, tired and crudely maintended. I ended up with a basement room with no window and a smell of damp. It was clean but there was a piece of the roof missing from the ceiling and most things in there were tired or broken...even the lightbulbs.
