OK for a short stay.

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Pros: Sea view, location, rear seating area overlooking sea where you could have a drink.
Cons: Front entrance very dirty cigarette buts all around the hotel.
Location: Tipical seaside resort nice walks, but very hilly greatful for cable car by hotel.
Great location, clean beds, breakfast ok, no sleep Saturday night due to wedding on till 1pm then troly outside our room clashing glasses and bottles cleaning up til 2 30 pm. Then drunk inconsiderate guests next door till 5pm. Had we been informed about late party we would have stayed out late are selves. Having said that, for 3 nights in a reasonable prised hotel it was ok. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Nice old hotel,

Posted 20-Jul-2015
Pros: It's central position,
Cons: Make the parking area out front bigger.
Location: Location is good, close to the beach, shopping and The Cleveland Way
Our room was a premier overlooking the sea, it was small but we had no problems with it. They are upgrading the rooms gradually and some looked quite nice. Being an old hotel it needs work, but I would stay there again.

Not one good thing too say!

Posted 13-Jul-2015
Absolutely disgusting place too stay! Ruined our holiday there, got moved too different room which was just as bad, spent first night looking for other acomidation, I spend all 3 nights choking due too dust and smell, wasent even going too try breakfast there! Photos are obviously of 1 room that's been modernised, window sill had dead flys and god knows what else crawling around, kettle looked like it had bogeys on it, awful I do not recommend it's like a dungeon but worse!

Hotel near beach, Good room overlooking beach.

Posted 13-Jul-2015
Pros: mainly position
Cons: needs an upgrade as very dated
Location: Perfect location on sea front, near station and shopping area
Bedroom a bit dated though overlooking the beach. Large stain on carpet which should have been cleaned or covered. Breakfast was passable.

Not bad considering its cost.

The Britania Hotel has certainly been magnificent in its day but it is in need of revitalization. This work is being done in stages and the staff are trying hard to please customers as best they can. For the low cost for two adults with two full Engliish all you can eat breakfasts and very clean rooms. One could hardly complain.

Exellent location.

Posted 11-Jul-2015
Pros: Price; location and pleasant/helpfull staff.
Cons: Lift size
Location: Handy for shops/pubs at top, when down at beach level also handy, except early closing tram lift.
'Grand' edifice, rather dated decor in rooms (to be expected for price) though room and linen clean. Staff pleasant and helpful. Shame lift tram stopped running at 4:30 pm (out of hotels control) made it difficult for grandparents with toddler. Parking a problem, with off-loading made a bit chancy(traffic wardens and snotty coach driver) then locating long term park spot. All in all a pleasant stay to be repeated.

The hotel suited as it was a flying visit . A lovely victorian hotel with a breathtaking staircase. Would of been nice to have stayed a bit longer

Posted 07-Jul-2015
Pros: location
Cons: paint work, windows.
Location: seaside resort
queue for 15 mins to check in, with three staff at the reception desk. room was clean, and adequate for an over night stay but had a damp smell in the bathroom, didn't specifically request a sea view room however was in 321 looking out over the roof to opposite bedroom there was rubbish and a dead bird.

Arrived at 10 after long tiring day. Room was smelly and unclean-cigarette ends and bottles and cans left lying around. Had to go out while room serviced. Floor not cleaned, surfaces sticky and shower not cleaned. Disgusting.
