Nice room, but quality didn't extend to facilities

Posted 29-Jul-2014
Pros: A Warm Welcome and Friendly Staff Ample Car Parking Air Conditioning in room Spacious Room Comfortable Bed A Clean Hotel Desk in room
Cons: Please drag the room facilities into 2014!. Even basic B&B's offer a selection of Freeview TV channels these days - as do other Ramada Hotels.
Location: The town of Wrexham is just a short drive / 15 minute walk away. But after work I generally just like to relax in the room.
Like most people away on business, I require a Hotel where the rooms offer the facility to catch up on paperwork and emails, along with some basic home comforts in order to relax. The room I was given was comfortable and spacious, with the air conditioning welcome during a (rare) UK heatwave. The room also had a large flat screen TV, and once I had spent some time catching up on the business of the day, I decided to relax with a Coffee and unwind. But its been a long time, since I stayed in a hotel with only five basic TV channels, a couple of sports channels and a Children's channel and the quality of the picture on all of these was terrible (snowy). Out of desperation I scanned the TV Menu and found that a communication upgrade would offer me "Movies, internet and additional TV channels" for a fee, I bought the option via the TV and expected at least several freeview channels to be unlocked. It didn't happen, all that the option actually gave was internet and just over ten on demand movies, so where are the channels?. The movies were also unwatchable, as the picture constantly rolled and had a black line down the screen and it reminded me of an old worn VHS video. In short, hardly an upgrade, even though the fee also gives you a day of Wi-Fi access. I've stayed in the Ramada Coventry and enjoyed complimentary wifi and over thirty free TV channels so I am i'm a little surprised as to why this hotel charges for facilities which are offered for free within the same chain

Excellent base to tour local beauty spots

Only problem was the rooms seem to lack soundproofing !! If you have quiet guests next to you things are fine but if they are a little loud ....you can hear snoring etc !

Pros: Good food, friendly staff, easy parking, comfortable and quiet rooms. Easily accessible
Cons: Update inernet connection to Wi Fifree
Location: Chester zoo, races. Erddig hall.Pontcysyllte world heritage site. Clwydian range area of outstanding beauty,Llangollen and the Dee valley.
Stayed for only one night but have stayed several times previously and enjoyed bar snacks and lunchtime buffet. We are regular visitors to the area and despite a good choice of hotels, our favourite and the one we always use is the Ramada. My wife feels completely relaxed here.Enough said! It is a good centre foe attractions in Chester and the whole of North East Wales

Not bad

Stayed overnight and booked a twin room, room was clean and staff pleasant, only down sides were there wasn't enough tea and coffee facilities in the room especially as it was for two people to use, could use more, the room could have done with arying before next guests as it had on musty smell when we arrived, but it was a nice pleasant stay overall. Would use again.

Comfiest beds ever!

Room was lovely, the bed was the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. It was very quiet and we were never disturbed by noise. Great location outside of Chester, we travelled in to Cheshire Oaks, Chester centre and Liverpool.
