“Nice staff, but tiny rooms”

Visited this hotel in a Standard double, which would struggle to fit the standard cat in, let alone be able to swing it. The room was clean and the staff went out of their way to be helpful, but the room was tiny, which was disappointing. The surrounding area is very quiet, seaside town, with a mainly retired clientel, so not much going on in October .

“What we expected”

This hotel is right on the pier in a very pretty location. However, inside it's quite dated and the rooms and food are not spectacular. The beds aren't very comfortable and the walls are fairly thin. It is a very inexpensive hotel, though, so don't be surprised. The staff were friendly and it's not bad for one night. Anything longer than that, I would have stayed somewhere more comfortable.

“Good enough for sleeping”

This is the perfect place if you only need a room for sleeping and are going out most of the day. It's at a walking distance from the main areas in the city and more economical than the hotels closer to the city centre. The room was pretty clean and comfortable, with own washroom, tv, and no noise problems. However, if you plan to spend much time at the hotel, Internet is only available at the lobby which is somewhat inconvenient. Most of the hotel guests are seniors, so the entertainment is directed towards them. Typical English breakfast with lots of fried food, but some fruits in syrup are available. The elevator was frightening, so I only used the stairs. Staff seemed to be friendly, but when I asked to leave my luggage for the rest of the day, they instructed me to just leave it around the lobby area, which sounded too unsafe to me.

“Historic grandeur”

Wonderful location overlooking the beach with friendly service. This hotel is well located for walking up the Great Orme and for the Opera. However, it is basic in menu and as an old hotel it is cold!

“Mixed Blessings”

The curtains were hanging off in the room, the balcony doors didn't close properly so the wind banged them, the orange juice at breakfast was fermenting and the scrambled eggs were swimming. However the staff were friendly and helpful, there was a great view from our comfortable room and the other guests were even older than us [64 ].

Area recommendations
The Great Orme. Pleasant walk with wonderful views including goats.

“good enough for a short break”

The hotel is exactly as described. Grand, but a bit past it's best. THe hotel caters for coach trips and is geared up for quantity rather than quality, but I feel this is reflected in the price. It was perfectly adequate for what we wanted ie. A base for sight seeing the surrounding area. It is within walking distance of the rail station, good bus connections for the surrounding towns, and plenty of places to eat on an evening. Evening entertainment was provided in the ballroom and lounge, with of course the obligatory bingo, if you wised to play. We were given a time slot for breakfast to fit in with the coach parties, but this was not a problem for us, and we did not sample the evening menu. We booked up for a standard twin room, but were upgraded to a premier room with sea view (presumably because of overbooking). This meant that the room was larger than expected with a nice view of the bay.

“No Welsh accents to be heard”

Lovely large hotel with nice rooms.Bathroom flooring is like hospital bathroom flooring.Breakfast was tasteless, rubbery fried eggs, watery scrabbled eggs and dried up bacon (sausage i did not want to touch) Juice drinks and cereals were very good however. People smoking at entrance to hotel i did not like. Otherwise a really good hotel on the sea.

Shopping
Plentiful wide selection of shops with bargains to be had.
Dining
Wetherspoon just across the road and handy for cheap meals.
